Yeah, I assume Part 1 will be Act 1? Will Schwartz be adding more songs? They could add 10-15 minutes to the stage runtime and it would still be under 3 hours. The stage show is 2:30 without Intermission, and there have been plenty of successful tentpole movies longer than that in recent years.

Ridiculous.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I mean, Les Miserables is close to a three hour show, and, was close to that in length for the movie. And to put things in a more current mainstream light, The Batman was almost three hours long and people saw it and was/is a success. Why Wicked needs two parts is beyond me.

They’re actually adding several reprises of it.

Please, tell me you're joking

They’ve expanded the role of Doctor Dillamond, he is now the narrator, set in the future. Hence the need for two movies. The role will be split between Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. Early reports are suggesting the expanded versions of Something Bad are going to be major Oscar bait for Best Song.
