Yeah, I assume Part 1 will be Act 1? Will Schwartz be adding more songs? They could add 10-15 minutes to the stage runtime and it would still be under 3 hours. The stage show is 2:30 without Intermission, and there have been plenty of successful tentpole movies longer than that in recent years.

I mean, Les Miserables is close to a three hour show, and, was close to that in length for the movie. And to put things in a more current mainstream light, The Batman was almost three hours long and people saw it and was/is a success. Why Wicked needs two parts is beyond me.

I know the real reason is money, but the director's explanation for why they split it in two makes the production team sound like horrible storytellers.
