That's so wonderful to hear, and it gave me chills.

I'm actually rushing the show tonight (wish me luck!) and I know that while I'm there, all of these new things will be rushing through my head. I'll be thinking of you guys. It's about life! *L'chaim!*

Anthony (or any one else that may know the answer):

Is the RENT movie set going to be "open"? Like, will fans be allowed to come and maybe see what is going on or something? I live right outside of San Fran and it would be amazing to actually be at the set.

Sorry if this is a silly question.

Hellos to you Anthony!

Alright I have a question where were the initial meeting between you and everyone with the producers and directros?...perhaps Revolution studios in Santa Monica.

I was going to school the other day and I was going down Olympic here in Los Angeles, I looked out the window and low and behold there was Revolution studios, on Stewart and Olymipic Blvd. I thought it was really cool it's literally like 10-15 min away from me! How are you liking the California Winter.. it's been like 85 degrees out here lately (needless to say I can't wait till I'm in the nice cool weather of New York in 27 days)

take care and thanks so much for all the tidbits on the films progress!
Melissa

The theatre is one of the most expressive and useful instruments for the edification of a country; it is also the barometer which makes its greatness or its descent. A theatre which is sensitive and well oriented in all its branches from tragedy to vaudeville can in a few years change the sensibilty of the people; theatre which has been destroyed, in which cloven hooves take the place of wings, can put to sleep an entire nation. A people that does not aid and encourage its theatre is moribund if not dead; the theatre which does not gather to itself the best of society, of history, the drama of its people and the genuine color of its landscape and its spirit, with laughter or tears, does not deserve to call itself theatre, but rather a place for that horrible thing which is called killing time.- Federico Garcia Lorca

so then it was anthony rapp... and i had no idea what to say.

my friend jordan and i (after recently finishing our own little high school production of little shop.. he played seymour and he would have made you proud. im very serious..hes rather wonderful. i played wino #1 and if youd ever heard me sing youd know why) were very sad to hear of your leaving the tour. we live in michigan (at least until graduation in june) and the tour wont be here until may and we were quite excited to see you. and near tears of course when we found out that you were leaving. theres no chance of you coming back in may is there? not even for a couple of absolutley absurd anthony rapp fans? but for the rent movie so i suppose its okay. in fact my friends and i all have plans to see it together next december..a little class of 05 reunion type thing. so keep posting and do have fun.

i guess ill keep it short..times a flying.
ciao!

i have a table..and you're quite welcome to dance on it anytime you please.

Hey all --

Just got home from a sweet little Xmas party the producers threw for us at the rehearsal hall after a long and wonderful and exhausting day of dancing on tables...

The highlight of the day was welcoming Julie and Al Larson (aka Poppa) to rehearsals. They were very very very happy to be around the energy jumping around the place, and it just felt *right* to get to sing Jonathan's songs in front of them again. They were visibly moved to be with all of us again, which was very special indeed to witness.

The second-most exciting highlight was listening to the early tracks that the musicians have laid down in LA of "Seasons of Love" and "Rent." They weren't fully mixed or overdubbed yet, and there were of course no vocals, but they were SLAMMING. Believe me, the soundtrack will dwarf the OBCR in terms of authentic rock and roll energy. It won't be a redundant recording *at all.* I know Jonathan would be thrilled if he were here; he had talked often about how much he wanted it to sound like a real rock and roll record. And now it will.

It's hard to believe that so much is already getting done already, and there's still so much time left; we're currently scheduled to be done shooting in the middle of June. Of course, that could change, as could anything in a film, but not by much, since it has to come out a few months later.

Oh, to answer the question about it being an open set, the answer is I don't know, although I imagine it would be tough to make it open, because as you can imagine there would be a *lot* of people interested in dropping by, and that could get a little nuts.

Anyway, I might not get the chance to post tomorrow before I fly out to NYC, and then I'm on vacation for a couple of weeks in Thailand, so I will probably be incommunicado until after the new year. If I can squeeze in anything more I will, but if not, have a great time during whatever holidays you may or may not celebrate, and a very happy new year.

Take care --

Anthony

Hey Anthony! Have a wonderful trip and a happy new year. Quick question - since filming is scheduled to end in June, do you know if there are any scheduled breaks? Random, I know, but legit... I promise. I have to miss Adam's performance back in New York, and I'm wondering how much the NY scene will be seeing of him for a while. Julie and Poppa

Well done; I'm now not only so excited about the movie I'm spasming, I'm also hyperventilating about the recording. I can't help it...it's just so exciting! And to be able to hear about it firsthand is amazing. Thank you for that.

Emcee...down, girl! Can we say one-track-mind? (meant in love)

Have a fantastic trip! Thailand is amazing!!

And thanks for answering my question about the open set. I totally understand the crazyness that would happen if it was. But if you ever want Starbucks and Krispy Kremes, I could totally get it out to you guys. :)

Wow, how powerful to have Julie and Al Larson at rehearsals! It's overwhelming realizing that Jonathan’s message in song has sustained and, in many ways, grown in its appeal over the years. The message is so powerful that you don’t need all the smoke and helicopters like you see in other shows to keep you interested. I am so excited about the soundtrack! You can only create so much of a true rock sound with 3 people in the pit. If I remember correctly, the OBCR had individual layers for each instrument and vocal which lead to a long recording session but a better and, arguably, easier mixing session. I’ve gotten so used to the OBCR recording and the stage version and can easily pick up on differences between the two. It’s hard to imagine a different sound to the familiar lyrics but if it passes the Rapp test, I’m sure it’ll be smashing!
Much love,
-j

Wow... still sounds awesome...
The highlight of the day was welcoming Julie and Al Larson (aka Poppa) to rehearsals.
Ideallic to hear!

I was about to say, too, it would be a bit early for a holiday party, then realized Chanukah did end last night, thus my holiday season is already over as far as there being no more holidays for me except new years, still not a holiday-holiday, yet a holiday kinda, too, heh (I'd even be willing to guess, in thinking about it, being in the second wind I have just recieved--so now I'm not tired enough to sleep though I reaally need to--, that the Larsons first came today, well, yesterday, because Chanukah didn't end until Tuesday night...)

Have a great trip back to NY, as well as to Thailand! (Wow.. haven't been there yet! Personally, I definitely recommed a nice Japanese and Korean vacation to anyone interested...I especially love Japan though...)
If you ever get the chance to, now, a month from now, whenever-- may I ask why Thailand? Never been there? Certain sites? Just because? (That's a good enough reason as any I'd say...)

It's hard to believe that so much is already getting done already, and there's still so much time left;
Oh, best believe it-- blink once and it's June, you're done shooting. Blink twice and you're at the premiere. Three times and it's on DVD...

...authentic rock and roll energy. It won't be a redundant recording *at all.* I know Jonathan would be thrilled if he were here; he had talked often about how much he wanted it to sound like a real rock and roll record. And now it will.
Defintely two great things to hear! Not only does the recording seem to have the potential to capture that rock and roll vibe, but in your opinion, which I'm trusting of, a certain someone would be pleased.

Sorry this post's so long, I'm incredibly tired, yet past that sleep window, so I have little judgement in post writing control...

Have a wonderful holiday and bright start to a what's lookin' like a happy new year!

And enjoy Thailand!

L'shanah tovah to *everyone*! (I had to say happy new year some other way...) Never to early to start wishing a happy new year...

Have a safe trip and a happy holidays/new year, Anthony! :)

Oh wow...After hearing your take on the new recording samples, Anthony, I am SO buying the film recording. Screw waiting for Christmas- I'll be there on the first day.

Anthony, you're getting me really excited about the movie now. Can't wait for the soundtrack- whenever you get back from Thailand, can you give us a ballpark date on its release?
