Diehard 'BKLYN: The Musical' fan here... I saw it four times!! What ever happened to its star, Eden Espinosa? Still CANNOT BELIEVE that Laura Bell Bundy got a Tony nomination over Eden's RIVETING performance in 'BKLYN.' Ughhh... Wish she was still playing Elphaba on Broadway!!
"See that poster on the wall? Rocky Marciano." - Andy Karl as Rocky in 'ROCKY'
My favorite memory of BKLYN was when Eden stood center stage and screamed at everyone for 90 minutes. If my memory serves, they locked all the doors and had guards standing by them so you couldn't leave and were forced to stay in there enduring the abuse.
"What the **** do you mean "How did Laura Bell Bundy get a nomination?" She's on the stage singing her ass off during most of the show. Your an idiot."
Is that the standard to get a nomination? I actually thought neither of them deserved anything.
"Not only did Laura Bell Bundy work her ass off up there on stage every night, she was also brilliant in the role. " That is exactly one of the main reasons I thought she was not good. You could see her working her ass off on that stage. One was always aware she was up there working.
Let's please not turn this thread negative. It was a (semi) simple question.
Eden has since gotten married and released an album. The album is titled "Look Around". For more information on Eden, head to her website www.edenespinosa.com
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
she posted on Twitter recently she was going to an audition and I thought, really? you are Eden Espinosa ! isn't she past the audition phase. you can go on Youtube and watch her sing her face off beautifully.
I get she her style of singing may be hard to cast, but in the right role she gives amazing performances.
She has three Broadway credits, two as replacements. No nominations. Not a star. Why WOULDN'T she have to audition for things?? Heck, didn't Patti LuPone audition for shows well into the 80's after winning a Tony?
Notice how she hasn't booked any major shows since she pulled out of "Hair"? They had already announced her casting in all the trades so when she withdrew for no good reason, it left a bitter taste in most casting director's mouths.
It's hard to get work after you burn so many bridges. She has the nickname "Espinoshow" for a reason.
"you can go on Youtube and watch her sing her face off beautifully."
That's about the only place you can see her. I've lost track of how many concerts she's been announced for but has then called out of. I was actually shocked to see she'd shown for Scott Alan's most recent concert, I was kind of expecting to see Natalie Weiss replace her at the 11th hour as usual.
