First of all. I would be all over a peters lupone revival of sideshow.
But I wonder if Disney producers were wanting to keeping the st James. They could definitely fit a production of beauty and the beast in there. And if dates are remaining likely looking at a March 2021 opening now. I wonder if they’d keep it empty or a short term tenant live residency. Before bringing beauty in in the fall 2021.
IMO they will likely be bringing beauty into a theatre before Hercules or Aida (Though I’m waiting for both). I just hope it’s not the cruise ship version. I would be thrilled with just a near carbon copy of the original. Through Laura Osnes in were good.

I’m sure that Jujamcyn would want to keep Disney!!

Yeah I agree. I believe Disney paid for the theater renovation of St. James a few years ago before FROZEN opened.

My favorite to comments of the day!
I would be right there for a Broadway production of this show.
That would be beautiful!

No seriously they have been workshopping Mother Courage with Julianne Hough and there is talk that it will move into the St. James.

All jokes aside apparently Jordan Roth sent an email out to all the employees at the St James claiming he already has a tenant ready and to go on the other side of this, how much of that is true vs saving face right now isn't clear though....

Maybe Hercules takes the St. James by Summer 2021? The Beauty & the Beast revival arrives by Fall 2022 to take the New Amsterdam. The Aida revival aims for Summer 2023 now.

That makes sense. Don't most prime houses like the St. James have shows that are circling? Based on some of the commentary here, Frozen very well could have been planning to pack it in after Labor Day or even after this coming Christmas.

I think in normal circumstances yes, but I do wonder how many investors will be willing and able to put money into new shows in uncertain short-term, when so many will likely lose most if not all their money in all the current shows that have closed/postponed/never opened.

You have asked the million dollar question. Broadway is also dependent on tourism. And then if houses are not allowed to play to full capacity....

Isn't The Who's Tommy revival suppose to be coming to Broadway 2021? Obviously this was news before Covid hit, but maybe they could be returning to the St James?

I think Roth is very smart, and I don't think he'd kick out Disney for any reason, so I think Disney is probably closing "Frozen," as it was a miss. And I'd love to see the Timbers renderings.
But I think we must be getting another Disney production.

Disney has always worked with the Nederlanders for theatres. Does anyone know why they went with Jujamcyn for Frozen, or why not the Nederlanders?

It was possible that Frozen would play the Nederlander-owned Palace starting spring 2018, but Disney was feuding with Nickelodeon over SpongeBob securing the space for a fall 2017 opening. Disney backed off and settled for the St. James instead.
That being said, I would either like Tommy or Some Like It Hot to secure the St. James for fall 2021. The original Tommy played there, and Casey Nicholaw has had a few of his shows play at Jujamcyn's spaces. Or, if Disney wants to attempt a rebound from Frozen's Broadway closing, they can fast-track Hercules or Beauty straight to NYC.

I do feel like if Disney does have first say on what goes in there and that Hercules will be the next Disney show to arrive on Broadway. Likely Summer or Fall 2021 if things get back up and running by the Spring. The Beauty & the Beast revival will replace Aladdin and Aida is ppd and will play in Europe first.
