I'd prefer they at least cast the leads with Broadway bets and would be indifferent if they cast others with hollywood types.
But I'm sure they will look for whatever hollywood names they can, like Les Mis and Russell Crowe.

I think it should be animated.
then anyone can sing the parts regardless of if they are a known star or not, the product will sell itself.

So, I just watched "I'm Thinking of Ending Things" on Netflix and Jessie Buckley was wonderful as always. It finally connected that she is peaking as an actress at the right time, as a singing actress, to perhaps play Elphaba in the film (if it is indeed happening in the next few years). If you remember, Jessie came in second to play Nancy on the "I'll Do Anything" Brit casting show for the West End "Oliver" as well as originating Anne in the Trevor Nunn "Night Music" revival in London (the one that starred Zeta-Jones here). She's a great actress with a great belt, who can be uber-vulnerable and turn around and be quite strong.

I can say a certain Broadway Mean Girl has been in LA the past few weeks auditioning for this.

Keke Palmer and Dove Cameron are my Elphie/Glinda pairing. I don't know if she has the full top belt, but Keke has a great voice and I think would be a fresh, comedic Elphaba with the right amount of joy and gravitas. I think Jessie Buckley would be pretty inspired casting, and I wouldn't be shocked if Zendaya was mentioned. Let Ariana play Nessa, with Christine Baranski or Jenifer Lewis as Morrible.

I'd love to see a newcomer play Elphaba and Brittney Johnson as Glinda.

Would love to see Miriam Margolyes reprise her role. You need a Morrible with some craziness/zaniness but who can also really bring on the evil & dramatics. But I think where we will see the real star casting is with Morrible & the Wizard. The Elphie/Glinda/Fiyero will be relative "nobodies".

Meryl Streep will be Madame Morrible. A nice supporting role and she doesn’t have to carry the film and she’s always on every list, including those for men roles and children roles. She draws the line at animal roles.

Tony and Emmy nominee Jeremy Pope? He’s very talented and very dreamy. Check and check.

I mean, I don't know if they want to or are planning on going back to the source material at all (and god I do hope they drop all of the "Ozification" of the language), but a non-white Fiyero would be a simple way to go back to the novel, as Maguire makes it pretty clear that Fiyero is not white-skinned (one character describes his skin color as the color of sh*t)
