Worst Show Poster — Page 5

as i mentioned earlier AIDA, ugly ugly logo.
i am not too fond of the new Tarzan logo, abit too unclean to me. too rough- but then, maybe it serves the show's concept... so i guess i'll just wait. it looks like the kind of thing that grows on you (rather like original Martin Guerre's logo)
i would like to mention really GREAT overlooked posters, IMHO,
the new LES MISERABLES poster (no cosette logo)- plain Eponine standing in a room. beautiful photo! beautiful Eponine! amazing feel to it!
and another great overlooked logo is LA CAVA. that dreadful musical did have amazingly talented logo-designers!

Is your Les Mis poster the beautiful UK one with Sophie Ragavelas (or however you spell her surname). Cos if it is!!??! I love that poster, i stole it when it was up in London from a ticket booth and now its on my wall. Stunning.

I half expect a T-Rex to appear over the hill in that poster chasing a women in a bikini (as mentioned that sort of design is quiet popular with bands in the indie rock genre these days and I swear women being chased by T-Rex is the cliche I see with my minds eye).

The Rent advertisement campaigns have been awful for years now. After the original approach, the decision was cast that they were not appealing enough to the TRL crowd, so they redesigned the whole thing in bright, pastel colors. Its been a downhill slide since.
The current campaign looks like a Japanese soap commercial.

Lincoln Center's posters are glorious works of art that convey the spirit of the show -- and also can have the tendency to over-complicate things. I think Man Of No Importance was hindered more by its advertisements than helped. Schmucks see artistic flair and say 'damn, too much thinking involved.' Simplify, LCT, simplify. Save the complexity for what's happening on stage.

I so agree!! I hate the DVD cover. They should have done something like they did for the movie poster or on the OBC recording, where they were in boxes. The rainbow thing isn't working for me, either.

But did any one else open their DVD, see the little sheet, then think "hmmm..." and then slide it in over the front cover and consider leaving it there?
I'd really like to see this Les Mis poster.
