BOOM! And the leads including Jan AND Elaine are coming with! - I'm definitely flying down to Los Angeles to see this one for sure. Victoria will be fantastic!
Man, I wish I could see this. I'm so bummed she didn't get to do it here.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Looks like Jan will get first billing. Kind of a slap in the face to Tony WINNER Victoria Clark. But Jan's been involved longer, though neither of them sell tickets.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
I legit may have to fly out to see this. I thought Victoria's performance was beautiful in the Encores production, and would love to see her in a fleshed-out production.
THANK GOD. I'm gonna be in LA for this! I can't wait to see what, if any, changes they make from the NY production. And I love Victoria Clark, so that will be fantastic. Wonderful if she'll be as....interesting as Bernadette has been.
I'll have to fly out and see this...mainly because I adore Victoria and think she's perfect for the role, but also to replace Bernadette in my memory of this production.
Art has a double face, of expression and illusion.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I do find that kind of sad...as if she was 'left behind'. But whatever. Victoria Clark will give a great performance, I'm sure.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
I'm sure the producers wanted more than anything for Bernadette to go to LA. But I think it's nice that she's fulfilling her concert engagements.
I do wish I could see Clark. Hopefully she starts from scratch and rebuilds her Sally. I know she has it in her. I thought her LOSING MY MIND was far more of a misfire than Bernadette's. Though Bernadette's can be hit-or-miss.
Man, I really wish I could see this. I finally was able to see the production in New York- my first time ever seeing Follies!- and I thought it was breathtaking, but Bernadette's performance was puzzling, to say the least. And vocally, at least the night I saw her, she did not seem comfortable with the score at all, though I did think "In Buddy's Eyes" was well done. I'm sure Clark will do a terrific job though, she's a great actress and her voice is stunning.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
