I guess she CAN handle 8 shows a week. Changed her mind.
Terrific news to wake up to! A first class Broadway revival is long overdue! 22 years!!
Any suggestions for her "Horace Vandergelder"?
For Horace?
If they want a name: Kelsey Grammar, John Lithgow, Alec Baldwin. James Woods, Alfred Molina.
Maybe Bette is all the "name" they need.

absolutely fantastic ! Bette has tons of energy and just went on tour with her new CD - I think she can handle 8 shows a week. She got her feet wet with the Sue Mengers play and now mama wants to serve us some more!
she is a legend and I'm sure this will be great
..
This is wild. It's perfect casting. Too bad we have to wait a full year. I assume they'll bring back both or at least one of the Merman songs for her? "Love Look In My Window" is beautiful.
This is some of the most exciting revival news in years. I hope she's surrounded by some Broadway favorites in the supporting cast.
Any suggestions for her "Horace Vandergelder"?
Peter Gallagher?
Kevin Kline?
Tommy Tune?

Won't James Woods be busy sending angry tweets about Hillary's first year as POTUS? Grammar does seem like a natural for the role.
Place your bets, people, at how high the premium ticket price for this show will be!
well now i have to put off my return to Broadway till Spring or Fall 2017...HELLO MIDLER!
While I do agree that The Divine Miss M is all the name this production will need I think it would be fun to read who others would pick to be her leading man.

Barry Mainilow for Horace- Melissa Manchester as Irene.,Linda Hart as Ermengarde, Ken Wahl as Cornelius....reunite her with all former co workers......Theater prediction- The St. James where the show started.
Any wild guesses on the venue yet? My bold (and probably wrong) prediction: Rotten! will be an early January 2017 closing, and Dolly! (keeping in the spirits of exclamation points) will move into the St. James, its original home back in the '60s.
It's so simple, but I love the first artwork!

I'm so excited for this!

The rumor swirling is that Brian Stokes Mitchell will be Horace.
Mitchell likely won't be available, assuming that Shuffle Along is a success.

^ You have no idea of that. His contract may only be for 9 months, for example. This is obviously something that has been in the planning stages for a while; assuming it is Mitchell, the plans for this could very well predate his involvement with SHUFFLE ALONG.

I could easily see Mitchell leaving SHUFFLE ALONG almost a year after for this. This will be the talk of the season.

She might do six shows a week, since I'm sure any producer would agree to that.
Bette would've been the perfect Mrs Van Hopper, but well aware this is an extremely niche comment....
"Any suggestions for her "Horace Vandergelder"?"
John Larroquette
John Goodman
Paul Sorvino
Michael Crawford for Horace?
