LOVE the artwork
Definitely catching this during its Los Angeles run.
Incredible news! Now they just need to transfer Jelly’s Last Jam as well! Glad to see that Encores is doing Broadway transfers again!

audibly gasped reading this. Not because I’m excited (I thought it was quite bad) but because I wasn’t expecting this at ALL
They need to announce the rest of the cast. Are Urie & Jackson transferring?
What about Ghee? Right now Midnight in..Evil is scheduled to play Chicago until August 4.
Will this be like ITW where people popped in & out of the cast at a drop of the hat?
Adored this at City Center - it was pure joy. Can't wait to see this again on Broadway!

Carol Burnett was nominated for the Tony for originating the lead role, but Sarah Jessica Parker was snubbed in the 90s for the first revival. How does this production compare with the 90s one ?

The Playbill article states that Urie is also reprising his role, with further casting to be announced. Also hadn't initially noticed the fact that this is also playing an LA engagement over Christmas - exciting!

She is certainly keeping busy. While her friend gets his affairs in order, she is hopping on any and all projects.

Good for Sutton. If there are no new musicals, she will make do with revivals. Incredible year for her. I am not a big fan of the show -- never have been -- but I hope it is a hit and further solidifies her journey to being a true Broadway legend, a term that is woefully overused,
Did this sell out at City Center?

Something nice about this following MERRILY at the Hudson. A happy ending for Mary.

Amy Sherman Palladino rewrote the book for this, she also created Bunheads that starred Foster.
I’ve never seen the Disney movie version on Disney Plus with Tracey Ullman, maybe I’ll watch it soon.

I echo the question on comparing the two productions. I found the 90s revival to be a snoozefest - the guy sitting behind me said aloud, "This is Once Upon a Mistake," and I thought he was right. I didn't see the Encores production out of indifference, but I'd willing to give at a chance with Sutton.,
Where does it say Urie is also transferring? I only see that it's just Sutton so far, and all other casting is yet to be announced...
Hmm the Playbill article originally stated that Urie was reprising his role and that seems to have been edited out...
re Belter: I found the Disney version bland. Ullman's charm is tamped down. The highlight is Carol Burnett's queen singing a new 11 o'clock number.

Yup. The big Merrily fans will be buying tix to the final performance July 7th knowing that will be, indeed, the final performance.

The last new musical she did was Shrek, almost 15 years ago. I'd have to imagine only doing revivals is a deliberate decision on her part.

I don’t blame her. It takes so long for new musicals to develop and even then it’s no sure thing it will work or come to NYC.
Remember the Sweet Charity she did Off Broadway that was rumored to transfer ?
