"I actually do like a lot of the things Donald Trump says. He is blunt, probably like me, and tells it like it is."
THIS IS THE BEST THING PHILLY HAS EVER SAID ON THIS DAMN BOARD. I'm laughing so hard. Philly is the Donald "Did you notice that baby was crying through half of the speech and I didn’t get angry?" Trump of Broadwayworld.
My vote is for Clinton all the way.

Yes. We know. You're in support of greed and corruption. Great.
pinto-- do you know how Trump plans on enacting any of the policies he pettifogs around? Do you educate yourself at all or are you so lazy that you don't bother to understand the first thing about public policy and therefore gravitate to the dumbest person on the political stage?
Thank God no one asked Pinto what newspapers he reads. It would have been Palin x 2. That damn liberal media is at it again. :)
THIS is what gets Pinto to leave? THIS?!
I'm trying to keep a close watch on the elections because for the first time I'll be able to vote (growing up is crazy). Because if I have the opportunity to vote and I chose not to, then I should not be allowed to complain about how the government is run. I really think it is our duty to vote.
At this point, I'm on Sanders' side, though my sister is about as passionate about Hillary as possible because he alma mater is my sister's current school. Still have a bit of time to decide, though.
In the Bay Area, you can vote for anyone you want.. the area is blue enough to let you have some fun without worrying things will be too close to call.

On social issues, sure. On economic ones, I'm not so sure. If techie-demographics continue as they have in Nor Cal, I can imagine "libertarian" candidates doing increasingly well in future elections. I'm not suggesting CA's going to go red - that's nuts - just that SF may one day be less reliably progressive and liberal than it has been.

Trump has only one core belief, and that is "Donald Trump", a morally bankrupt cardboard cutout of a human being with the intellectual depth of tissue paper. His true genius is limited to one thing and one thing only: self promotion.
Some time ago, he saw the traction that the birther movement was getting among the angry, low information, easily indoctrinated voters who have entrenched themselves in the Republican Party, and he decided that they were easy pickings if he decided to make a run for President. So, he began harvesting that base through his appearances on Fox News and by making outrageous statements on Twitter and in public pronouncements. He doesn't "tell it like it is". He has no clue what "it is". He tells it like the low information Republican base thinks it is, so they think he's a prophet. They love it when someone validates them, especially if it's a rich guy who's on TV a lot. And the media, anxious for the dollars that come with higher ratings, just follows along, with no thought give to the importance of a vigilant press in our system. They are there to make money. Period. Don't expect them to look closely at Trump as long as people are tuning in.
I'm perfectly happy for Hillary to maintain her status as the front running stalking horse for the time being, but the Democrats are going to have to come up with a better solution if they want to avoid disaster in 2016. You have a Republican Party that cannot possibly win by endorsing the extreme positions their candidate is going to have to embrace in order to win the nomination, so their only chance is to relentlessly attack the Democratic candidate, to the point that policy positions become irrelevant to the target voter. They have the money to do it, too. Hillary is just too easy a target for that kind of campaign. And Bernie is too, when much of the voting population is unable to distinguish any difference between "Democratic Socialist" and "Communist". My hope is that another candidate will emerge, one that is less vulnerable to the inevitable media carpet bombing, and charismatic enough to be embraced by the passionate Sanders or Clinton supporters.

I believe the best strategy is to support Trump, and his honesty, stop making out like this is a joke, and indeed encourage support for him. The mission of every liberal should be to encourage this candidacy, and shush about what he really is.
As this goes on you are going to see the GOP really start freaking out about Trump. They are now but they are keeping it under the radar. They are terrified he will go third party, which I predict he will. When that happens the White House is the Democrats to lose.

Not at all germane to the conversation, but just had to add:
Wow, even for an off topic board, this thread sure veered off course! :) Anyway, in response to the original question posed, I'm not terribly interested in either Clinton or Sanders. Martin O'Malley is my favorite candidate, with Clinton as my second choice.
Marty Gunshow O'Malley is going to be a fabulous veep.
Cornel West endorses 'brother' Bernie Sanders
"Washington (CNN )Civil rights activist and philosopher Cornel West on Monday endorsed Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders for president.
"I endorse Brother @BernieSanders because he is a long-distance runner with integrity in the struggle for justice for over 50 years," West tweeted late Monday night.
West went on to say that it's time for Sanders' "prophetic voice to be heard across our crisis-ridden country."
While West has been a long time supporter of Sanders (and "not a Hillary Clinton fan at all"), the endorsement comes weeks after Black Lives Matter activists disrupted a Sanders event in Seattle, taking the podium from the self proclaimed socialist who is seeking the Democratic Party's presidential nomination. West has frequently linked arms with Black Lives Matter activists and has been arrested with them during various protests."

Elizabeth Warren allies demand answers from Clinton on Wall Street ties
"Eight liberal political groups are resuming pressure on Hillary Clinton over her Wall Street policies on Wednesday, releasing a letter that asks whether she supports legislation to ban financial companies from giving workers large bonuses before they join the government. The letter specifically points to two of Clinton’s State Department aides who came over from the banking world.
“On behalf of our nine million supporters across the country, we are writing to request more information about your positions regarding the revolving door between Wall Street and the federal government,” reads a statement backed by Democracy For America, Rootstrikers, CREDO Action, MoveOn.Org Political Action, the Center for Popular Democracy Action, The Other 98%, Friends of the Earth Action, and American Family Voices.
The missive, which comes as Clinton interrupts her Hamptons vacation to unveil her rural policy platform in Iowa on Wednesday, specifically notes that Clinton has yet to support or comment on Sen. Tammy Baldwin’s Financial Services Conflict of Interest Act. Progressive icon Sen. Elizabeth Warren — who has ties to many of the letter’s signatories — has encouraged all presidential candidates to back the legislation, as both Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley have.
“These types of ‘golden parachute’ compensation packages are highly controversial, and for good reason,” the letter reads. “At worst, it results in undue and inappropriate corporate influence at the highest levels of government — in essence, a barely legal, backdoor form of bribery.”
