Adele is one step closer to achieving EGOT status after winning the Emmy Award for outstanding variety special (pre-recorded) for her CBS special, “One Night Only.”
With multiple Grammy Awards under her belt and an Academy Award for best original song, the singer and songwriter only needs a Tony Award to achieve the elusive EGOT. It is a title given to artists who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.
I'd like her to write an original Broadway score. Nearly everything she touches turns to gold.

If nothing else, I could see her as an above-the-title on something. But this is funny because of all of the rumors about Adele being stunt cast or offered something in ALW's Cinderella.
she’s way too big to star in anything on Broadway, and I don’t think she needs the writing credit. I could very well see her adding herself to a producing list of a show if she is really eager for the Tony.

Yeah she'd never show up to perform on Broadway. Caesar's couldn't even get to her to perform in Las Vegas. We'll see if she actually comes through on the rescheduled dates.
I can't believe she won a Tony for that TV special. It was 100% cringe.
I really enjoyed the special. I just didn't like one song on this past album, though.
I could see someone taking her album and turning into a musical a la Jagged Little Pill (hopefully lightyears better though).

She was offered one of the roles in Cinderella but almost certainly said no because Jen Simard was at final callbacks for role a few weeks ago.

Yeah I can’t stand the last album. A total miss. All the mumbling between and during songs. I dont think there’s another single besides Easy On Me. She needs to get back to the old formula now that she got that album out of her system.
I think she’s too lazy for a Broadway run. I adore her, but she’s admitted she’s lazy. She never needs to work another day in her life if she doesn’t want to.
I do worry she’s gotten so rich and famous that she’s now among those completely out of touch with reality, which is why she created that subpar last album. She’s surrounded by yes men and her stans will defend that album as art until they die.
She has terrible stage fright as well so I can't imagine her being able to handle 7 or 8 shows a week. I just think she's too big of a name to be on Broadway. Her last album was certainly her worst, but did manage some solid songs.

I will say her and Jennifer Lawerence love to go to the gay bars in NYC and just get drunk. So she's not like that out of touch. But the fact that she cancelled a $100m production days before it was suppose to start does seem a little out of touch.

Unless she had multiple specials it aired on NBC and was fabulous

Pretty sure she's had multiple specials. "One Night Only" was on CBS. Filmed up at Griffith Observatory in LA.
The part that truly made me ill was the guy who brought his blind folded girlfriend up unknowingly in front of all these people & proposed.
Eminem, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr also just won their first Emmys, so they're in the same EGOT situation as Adele.

Does getting drunk in gay bars prove one is not out of touch? Lol

maybe she'll follow Jennifer Hudson and write a check for an already developed Broadway hit.
Rita Moreno's achievement is still the best.

Adele doesn't have stans. Adele "stans" are just the general public. Which can be both a blessing and a curse for a pop career. As for out of touch, her albums were ever very "in touch" with the zeitgeist. They were middle of the road (in terms of style not quality) albums about relationships. There's no real way to be out of touch with that audience. They haven't changed since the Vietnam War ended. They even liked 30 which I agree is her worst.
This all ignores the fact Adele's voice could not sustain 8 shows a week. Or 6. Or 5. She has terrible vocal technique that she's made no effort to rectify.

I’d love if she reopened the Palace with a Broadway residency. The Wing would be tripping over itself too hand Adele a trophy on national tv along with a performance.
Could you imagine an evening of her songs with some show tunes mixed in?

The Vegas thing was out of her control. And I don't think you win Tony awards for TV specials.

Not that the EGOT is a bona fide anything, but #nevergoingtohappen I wish Jennifer Hudson would establish the precedent of declining the honor until the “T” is earned for something more artistically appropriate than having the cash to invest in a Broadway show.

Everyone's going on about Adele, but I'd really like to see Eminem win a Tony. Maybe just because I crave chaos.

Why on earth would you expect Jennifer Hudson to give back an award that was given (not only) to her but every other individual who had a hand in investing/producing that show? If she's expected to give it back then maybe every other producer whose won a Tony who had the cash to invest in a Broadway show should give theirs back as well.
All this importance on the EGOT is hyperbole.
I invest - I go to many, many auctions and I can tell you how many entertainers/producers put up their awards up for auction just for the cash.
In 2008 Barry and Fran Weissler SOLD the Tony they won for their 1991 revival of "Fiddler on the Roof". It netted them $5.675.25
So much for the importance of winning awards.
If anyone is doing anything in life just to win awards they are doing it for the wrong reasons.

Such a ridiculous comment. But thanks for the giggle, anyway.
