Morrible coming out on stage with just... a massive rack.
"

I laughed so hard lolol. Yes, just approaching Elphaba after Nessa’s spinning chair “Oh, Wow”.

A Drag Race fan group posted it...
"

This particular fan group makes a habit of posting fake posters and claiming remakes and reboots of properties are being green lit.

its quite simple

$$$$$$$$$$$$

What… they’re above it now they’re Hollywood stars?

pretty much

It's not that THEY'RE above it, it's that the show doesn't need it at all. Why would a show that brings in $2 million a week without any names ever want to shell out for stars? There's just no universe where it makes sense.

None of this happening. That said, if you make a list of celebrities who could step into a Broadway show for one night coherently without a rehearsal, Ariana Grande doing Wicked would rank pretty high on that list.

LOL, I saw the poorly executed fan made poster announcing this on Facebook the other day and all it got from me was a chuckle and a huge eye roll.

The answer is to make $4M a week.

The reason would be so they could temporarily raise prices and make $4 million a week.

It's probably still not worth it though, since there's a risk people would lose interest in seeing the show once the movie stars leave, even at the old prices.

And then you'd probably have to pay them $1M a week so it'd all even out to no actual benefit.

I heard that Meryl Streep is in talks for Morrible along with Josh O'Connor as Fiyero and Liam Neeson as the Wizard.

Chappell Roan will understudy Ariana and Audra McDonald will understudy Elphaba.

this is all fan fantasy nonsense

besides

erivo would think that the broadway costume hat hid too much of her face from the mezzanine audience and she would completely lose it

Imagine Cynthia finding out she’s onstage for the majority of the show (an extremely raked stage, no less), and for her reward, has to run underneath the stage and up a ladder to emerge from the trapdoor to sing “No Good Deed”- 8 times a week.

i don’t think so.

Not only does the show not need it, neither do either of the two performers. Neither of them needs to be the 57th replacement in a 20 year old production at this point in their careers.

The fact that some of you are even entertaining this completely fake rumor is crazy. There is no universe where this would even come close to happening.

Oracle is reporting that Lencia Kebede, currently touring as Angelica in Hamilton, will become the first Black Broadway principal Elphaba when she takes over the role in March.

#44

Ariana and Cynthia to Wicked Broadway April

I doubt this will ever happen beyond MAYBE Ariana and Cynthia appearing during a curtain call or something, but for everyone wondering what financial gain there could be for doing this, maybe they would want to do this for fun?

#45

It would be a record-breaking BCEFA performance if Cynthia & Ariana agreed to it. Same with Ariana’s suggestion of Aida.

I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.

The suggestion of “Aida” is at least plausible since she has stated she intends to return to Broadway and has expressed interest in that specific musical.

Very excited but it’s a shame this took so long. I saw her on tour and her vocals are amazing, she’ll be amazing if rumors are true!

The rumor is addressed in this new interview with Cynthia:

https://deadline.com/2024/12/wicked-star-cynthia-erivos-on-painful-moments-jon-m-chu-broadway-rumors-1236200404/

"I ask her if the tale I’ve heard from some folk in New York, that she and Grande will take over the lead roles in the Broadway production of Wicked for a limited season next year, is true.

She shakes her head. 'That’s not going to happen. Neither one of us has time. We have anther film [Wicked: Part Two] to put out. And also there are other ladies who need the chance. We’ve had our chance. I’ve had my chance, and I’m very grateful for it. Doing that would feel a little bit selfish. I understand where the idea comes from, but we’ve done it. We had this [the film].'"
