It's happening. Or that's the plan.
Don't know if they're still doing the built out over the Orchestra like had been the plan for years.
Conrad Ricamora just posted stories outside the Broadway Theatre, Here Lies Love music playing, and a “mabuhay bitches” caption. Seems like it’s a matter of time that we hear something official.
Seems early to postvsomething if it won't be until Summer or Fall? Unless he was just walking by and got excited? & putting in stories it is cryptic enough to not get in trouble for saying too much? I can't see a Spring opening working with Miles' scheduled dates at Encores.
With how much they'll probably have to transform the theatre, I think it's probably already settled. Who knows when we might get an official announcement though?

Phantom is extending 8 weeks - hasn't been announced yet. I wonder if they will go into that house?
I know things can ALWAYS change, but the aforementioned Conrad Ricamora Instagram stories were from outside the Broadway Theatre with the lyrics "Home is where I wanna be, but I guess I'm already there" from David Bryne's This Must be the Place playing over it. That seems pretty conclusive to me that that's where this is planned to be.
Yeah, they were two pictures specifically of the Broadway Theatre, so I imagine it’s that one and it’s a done deal. Can’t wait to hear more!

What about the score--would it be eligible given that this was first a concept album not written for the stage?
"
I believe it would be eligible, as Hadestown was also a concept album prior to it coming to stage."
Best score winner Evita was also a concept album originally.

this is happening in the Spring, an announcement is likely at start of December

I don't think that's accurate. When the first SIX album came out, hadn't the show already had 2 runs?

You're right — although neither run to that point had paying audiences. I stand corrected.

My guess is that if the music is used for the same story/intended purpose it's probably fine (Chess and Jesus Christ Superstar are another two that started off as concept albums). The issue is probably more when you repurpose a score that's been used for something else. Imogen Heap wasn't eligible for Cursed Child because over 50% of the music in that had already been recorded for other things I believe.

Again, that’s inaccurate. The show played multiple times to paying audiences before the cast recording was released. It played the Edinburgh Fringe Theatre twice, in Cambridge once and then was playing off-West End, all to paying audiences, before the cast recording was released.

NO. Majestic is going into renovations post Phantom.
Here Lies Love is taking The Broadway. Announcement soonish...
Who's actually producing HLL this time around? So many hands have passed over it through the years...
If these rumors are true, this show will instantly vault to the top of my “must-see” list for the spring. I missed this Off-Broadway (has it really been close to a decade ago?) and I had heard unbelievable things.
Bummer that Ruthie isn’t continuing with the project, though I’m sure she’ll do great in Sweeney.
I’m so glad EDM-heavy musicals are getting more attention now!
From what was said on this board, ruthie is attempting to do Sweeney, Piazza, and then Here Lies Love (opening summer 2023). In rapid succession. The kind of thing that, if pulled off well, could vault her to the top of modern “greatest Broadway talents” lists.
Ironic that HLL a pop musical the began as a concept album about a notorious Dictatress will be playing the Broadway theater where in 1979 another pop musical that began as a concept album about a Dictatress also debuted.
I wish there was still this marquee^^^

If Here Lies Love is planning to transfer this season without Ruthie, perhaps they already have an Imelda in mind. Maybe Lea Salonga? She is Filipino actually, unlike Ruthie, who is Korean. Is she too old to play the role?

Who said without Ruthie?

CarlOAlbertO I know - that for this!
Worst marquee on Broadway
Barf. So glad that show is out of there forever.
Anyways, I know nothing about Here Lies Love coming in the Spring but many people think that Ruthie Ann Miles MUST be in this show because of her past involvement in it and it could not possibly open without her? It's weird because she is a goddess in every possible way but I wouldn't call her a name, so I'm not sure why people think this.
