Doesn't necessarily mean you're wrong, I'm just going by what one unreliable poster here said.
Maybe they are reading it today! But if today is the official start of rehearsals, that still seems very odd to me. 73 days (10+ weeks) of rehearsal is almost double that of a typical Broadway show.
Could also be tablework sessions with just some of the principals to get the juices flowing before the real start of rehearsal.
Some stupid influencers are going into the majestic theatre. I asked one of them what was happening, and they didn’t tell me. Why do shows continue to use them? Producers, they are not helping you!
Some women came out the side door adjacent to the entrance with a list of names. It was probably about twenty of them.
And you’re doing what there, exactly? Staking it out?
My guess is they were getting a look at the renovated theatre.

You must be just as creepy in person as you are online. Go figure.
They deleted one of my comments on here, but to answer Kad’s question, I was just going about my day and was heading next door to the Broadhurst Theatre to buy my 30 under 35 MTC tickets to The Hills of California which is when I stumbled upon them. No I was not creepy, I asked them a simple question, what’s happening? Is this about Gypsy? They mumbled some nonsense out

Musicians are setup onstage for some sort of performance. Principal casting announcement incoming?

Looks like press were invited to hear the orchestra play the overture https://x.com/BroadwayWorld/status/1833221616249016705
Yes well I guess this is in line with what I heard. I heard we were getting a casting announcement, but this is more extravagant than what I thought.

It's absolutely nothing like what you heard.
This is so OD. Audra has a lot riding on this after her last two flops, which is hovering over this whole thing. I guess they have to come up with stunts to gin up interest in the press. It’s selling pretty well anyway.

I love that New Orleans “JAZZ” flavor they added to the overture.

yes and I bet today had one (1) rehearsal a few hours ago, and the thousand other times you've heard it had more than one (1) rehearsal.
It's a quick press preview to tie the show to the reopening of the theatre. Today's preview will sell them no tickets, but it is a cool thing to do (whether Shubert is footing the bill for this or the Gypsy producers or a split)
I love me some Andy Einhorn conducting!

The orchestra sounds a little thin. But what do I know .

fwiw I wouldn't make too many judgments on the sound of this orchestra from this clip since they're going to have a lot more rehearsal time and it seems like this video was taken on a phone at an angle, so it wouldn't allow for the optimal sound balance and everything (the horns are notably much louder since they're closer)
Everyone calm down about the overture video! The orchestra also isn't amplified! The brass & reeds definitely can't hear the strings! Mics + a proper sound system will make the strings sound much richer!
I wish they were in the pit. This whole thing was a flop in my opinion. The orchestra sounded bland. Why didn’t they at least announce the cast? Why does the Broadhurst still have an elegant marquee, but the Majestic went digital?

Chills!!! Sounds amazing for a teaser!! Do we know if this is going to be the size of musicians for the pit?

Everyone is calm. But apparently you got hysterical. I thought it was a cool thing for them to do. But they should all be careful with these preview videos. The glance of the sitz probe ( sp?) is what started all the Beanie drama.
That’s how I feel. If it’s not great, you’re only doing more harm than good.
