If anything, Jordan Tyson is a better fit for June if that is indeed the way they are casting.
But myself and the other poster are hearing Joy Woods is possibly Louise, not June.
I'm going off of the audition notice, which doesn't say June should be able to "pass" as white, just that she is biracial (light skinned Black). Even without the concept, Joy Woods just seems more like a June to me. But whatevs. Louise is a great part so I'm happy for her.
[JUNE] 18+ to play Teens through 20s. Biracial; her mother is Black and her father is White. Female identifying. Mezzo Soprano with a high chest extension. Although she is in her mid-teens, Dainty June is a gifted and willful young woman, who ultimately refuses to continue perpetuating the “baby doll” persona she has carried with her since she was a young girl. Because she has opportunities to be accepted into mainstream show business, she elopes with Tulsa, one of the chorus boys in her act, to begin building a career on her own.
This reminds me of gun and powder where the half white half black, white passing girls were able to scam their way into a life of luxury. They killed all the white people for revenge on behalf of their black mother and the enslaved people. Mama rose will favor June who looks white and has the ability to get ahead in life. But BerniesB!tch said she’s playing Louise who will be all black and passed aside by Rose

There is not one single death or murder in Gun & Powder though...? "Kill all the white people" what??
They kill the white guy in the end by locking him in the safe. They also intimidate and steal from the whites throughout. and also a shooting

They don't lock him in a safe...he sees the empty safe and breaks down..and interesting how you went from "killing all the white people" to "stealing and intimidating" lol. Don't spread objectively incorrect information.

Rumor, as of now, is Norbert Leo Butz is Herbie.

Obviously not a name but he'd be good!
It'll be tight but doable to do that alongside VLADIMIR at MTC, which as of now runs September 24 through November 10th (unless there's an extension). GYPSY begins rehearsal September 30 (possibly earlier per some people here?)
He’d get me more excited. Herbie is a thankless role, but Norbert would give it more gravitas. Hope the rumor is right! Any other casting info?
Why does Joy keep getting all this work?

It’s a 28 piece orchestra. Same as The Phantom of the Opera. Casting announcement this week.

That was the plan I heard.
Has anyone heard any further Herbie rumors? I would love if the rumors of Norbert Leo Butz were true but I find it unlikely given that he'll be in an off-Broadway play during the entirety of the rehearsal period.

Because she's good.
And the lead producer of this also did LITTLE SHOP, her first major NY show.
And that person is also the executor of Terrence McNally's estate who probably has casting approval over RAGTIME.
It's good to be in the Tom Kirdahy business!

Is it the original orchestrations?

It's been rearranged by the conductor of the New Orleans Gay Men's Chorus

I heard it's not Keke

She’s denied it, but even this production’s lead denied she was doing it until…she confirmed.

I would say they're teasing that Mazzeppa is a character in the show. Nothing to do with casting!

Looks like you heard wrong. She's shooting a TV series this fall/spring.

Good? More like a bore. It’s a good thing Louise only has to come alive during the strip and the dressing room scene.
