I have personally never seen Bright Star, but rotten is a extreamly funny show in a good way I loved every minute of it and can not remember when I laughed so much in a show
I am with h6p8hv
Having seen both, I would go with Bright Star all the way.
I've seen both-- Bright Star all the way.
It is a gorgeous show that will leave you so emotionally full. Additionally, you do not want to miss the performance Carmen Cusack is giving in her Broadway debut (fresh off a Tony nomination!). She and the entire cast are sensational. Don't miss it.
I've seen both and really enjoyed them. Go with Bright Star if you can!
I too would go with Bright Star, Carmen Cusacks performance is not to be missed!
They are so different in tone it's difficult to compare.
I think both shows are great. If you want to laugh go with Rotten. If you want something smaller and more emotional go with Bright Star.
I've seen Rotten, but haven't seen Bright Star and I'm still voting for Bright Star.

I've seen both and VASTLY prefer Rotten.
Bright Star. Haven't sen Rotten though.
They are vastly different, so it depends on what you're looking for.
SR is slick, polished and funny.
BS is heartfelt, sentimental and sweet.
I , too, would vote for BS. It's less likely to tour and even if it does, missing Carmen Cusacks beautiful performance would be a shame.
Rotten, without the slightest bit of hesitation.
Bright Star, without the slightest bit of hesitation.

I would vote for Bright Star as well, if you like sweet, sentimental shows. I think drama mama's descriptions are accurate.
Aside from the other factors mentioned, if you live near a place that gets major tours, you're likely to have an opportunity to see Something Rotten. Bright Star is much less certain, and even if it does tour, it would not be the same without the glorious Carmen Cusack.

I've seen Something Rotten and haven't seen Bright Star yet. I too say Bright Star without a doubt.
Something Rotten is going on tour and while I love it, you should absolutely see Bright Star.

I've seen something rotten several times and think it's the most hilarious show on Broadway right now. However, Bright star is NOT to be missed. Carmen Cusack is giving the performance of a lifetime so I'd vote bright star!! :)
Bright Star, by a long shot. While I personally hated SR, it's going to tour and you'll have a chance to see it. Bright Star (and to echo everyone else, Carmen Cusack) is not to be missed.
Bright Star was a bore and unless you love bluegrass music go to Something Rotten
I've seen both, and as others have said, if you want something wacky and silly, go for Rotten. If you want something more heartfelt, go for Bright Star.
My personal preference would be Bright Star. I just enjoyed it more. And, as others have said, Rotten will tour eventually, while Bright Star likely will not.

Oh boy! This is tough...since Rotten will probably come to my city I am leaning more towards Bright Star. I don't love bluegrass but don't hate it.
I've been here since Wed and have seen: Curious Incident, King and I, Waitress, Shuffle,Color Purple.
I thought Shuffle was way too long with a weak storyline. Very disappointed.
Seeing She Loves Me tonight.
I honestly don't think anything can compare to the Color Purple. I never expected that. I am still in awe. Cynthia's performance brought tears to my eyes. She should win that Tony!!!
Everyone should see it. That show will stay with me forever. I have no words!!
I have not seen "Bright Star" but had a great time at "Something Rotten".
