I am not a fan of: Nathan Lane, Stephanie J. Block, or Kelsey Grammer.
Those who I seem to like more than other posters: Rachel York, Sutton Foster, Diana DeGarmo, Tovah Feldshuh, and Terence Mann.
Then there are those who have HUGE fanbases here, but I don't get it. Not that I don't like them, I just don't get the adoration. Particularly, Cheno and Esparza.

Well, I can't really say that I "can't stand" someone. However, there is one person who is a terrific, terrrific actor, but why do people think the sounds coming out of his mouth is a singing voice?? Imagine a world where even Lauren Bacall sounds better than him. H.F. Also, this actor is a terrific comedian, actor and o.k. singer. But, I find it odd that it seems he gives the cold shoulder to the very fans who are supporting the show where he is singing/acting at the moment. N.L. Even Bebe goes out at the stage door and signs for people. At least she demonstrates an appreciation for fans. The two persons I mentioned are obviously very talented. But there are certain things about them that make me go "huh?" from RC in Austin, Texas NYC March 15-18, 2011.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
Are these opinions based on their talent or personal meetings with them? Just curious because so many stars are totally different once they get off stage (of course, I know you know that-lol)
Overrated: Kelli O'Hara (love her voice but think she's deathly boring on stage), Karen Olivo
Vastly underrated: Julia Murney, Marla Schaffel, Brooke Shields
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
I abhor Lea Michelle, and I refuse to watch Glee because of her. And I can't stand Idina Menzel. I just don't get the "love" for these two shrill "actresses". And I don't get the love for Greg Jbara in Billy Elliot. I think he's the weakest performer in the show.
I like Kristin Chenowith, LaChanze, Nathan Lane and too a much much smaller degree Patti LuPone.
I don't mind her in most things, but I thought Idina single-handedly ruined the Royal Albert Hall performance of "Chess." So right for "Wicked," so wrong for that. I still haven't listened to the whole CD.
As for Lea Michele, she's seriously guilty of being way too aware of her own wonderfulness, as is Neil Patrick Harris to a somewhat lesser extent. Sometimes that colors my perception as much or more than their performances.

Anyway, Olivo and Esparza are both on my loves list, as are Cheno, Bernadette and Patti. I love a bunch of other people too but they seem to be less controversial. Shoutout to Mandy Gonzalez though.
Can't stand Sarah Brightman, Lea Michele, or Ramona Mallory (though my experience with her is limited to ALNM). I also kind of can't stand Nikki Snelson but feel bad saying that here because the Chorus Line documentary made me sad for her. Updated On: 1/26/11 at 02:47 PM
BroadwayGirl107, Totally agree about Matthew Morrison. His performance in South Pacific just didn't impress me. He's great to look at, sure, but he is just a weak stage actor. But I love him in Glee. Maybe he should just stick with camera work.

I don't think there are any performers out there who SOMEone won't think are overrated or underrated. Personally, the sound of Kerry Butler's voice makes me want to run screaming. And I've always found Norbert Leo Butz to be very charming in interviews but incredibly dull on stage. Who's excited for Catch Me If You Can?!
