This system is really frustrating. If I was a huge fan I'd be livid. Instead I'm deciding just to be glad TM saved me a lot of time in even trying and hundreds of dollars .

Standby for me both times. I'm a big fan, and have bought more Springsteen tickets via Ticketmaster than I care to count. And yes, I am livid. I'd rather battle the bots any day than not have a chance. I know these are small problems in the scheme of things/life, but it's just nonsense, and between the verified fan code ridiculousness and the sky high prices it has really turned me off to the whole thing. Which is too bad, because it seemed like such a great evening out, and combined two of my favorite things...
Standby again for me, too. I don't doubt that some people who got tickets last time got codes again and will be able to get buy more, leaving the rest of us out in the cold.
Last time I eventually got a code -- but by then the only tickets remaining were $600-$700 and up. So, if you don't want to spend enormous amounts of $$$, being on standby equates with NOT getting a ticket.
bwaylyric, I believe it's random. I'm from overseas and had not bought anything on the US Ticketmaster site (all my Bway shows had been Telecharge or box office), so I registered for a Ticketmaster account when I wanted to apply for the Hamilton presale code thing a couple of weeks ago, and I received a code for that event.
I agree with those who are feeling soured by this whole thing. It's left a bad taste in my mouth and even if I do get a code, I don't know that I'll bother giving Bruce, Jujamycn, or Ticketmaster my money.
This just seems like the worst way to lessen bots/scalpels- like going through a line outside a box office and picking people out at random to be able to purchase tickets, disregarding the order of who's waited longer, sure maybe some scalpers got boxed out but it's a system that does it indiscriminately so what's the point? Is there any reason they can't do pre-verification and just give everyone a code, making it an as per usual first-come first-serve experience, with tighter bot security via the pre-verification? Scalpers will get in regardless so why box out real fans with them and give yourself a bad rap?

I have a question--hope someone can help. I am on standby. It says if you get selected, you will get a text message with a link to a page to select the performance you want to attend. So that sounds as if you have to buy the tickets on your phone. But it also says you should use your desktop/laptop to buy the tickets. So how do you click on the link if it's on your phone, not on your laptop? Thanks.

Based off the previous sale, http://livemu.sc/sny should direct you to the correct page. You will still need to enter the code to unlock or purchase (maybe type it into clipboard and copy+paste)
Weren't there complaints about the mobile site during the Hamilton release? You can still try mobile - I got a Springsteen standby code last week and at least the search process worked.
Yes, there were technical problems all over during the Hamilton presale, both mobile and desktop.
TweetyPie2, I was first wondering about the same thing but they actually tell you to "transfer the link to your desktop ahead of time". So you have to manually type in the address that you see on the text message into your laptop browser address bar. Typing it somewhere beforehand where you can copy&paste it from is of course advisable. And you can (and should) log in to the Ticketmaster site using the address even without the code, to save time. You only need the actual code to see tickets & make the purchase. Good luck!

I totally agree with this. I think this is secretly Ticketmaster's way of not having to pony up for better servers for popular sales. If fewer people are trying to get tickets the site is less likely to crash.... All they have to do is say they're fighting scalpers and people think it's a good idea. I bet they don't even vet the accounts like they say.
I was just trying to get tickets for my parents for this so I'm not too bothered that I never got a code, but I'll be really mad if I don't get one for Harry Potter. I don't understand why they can't just send a code to EVERYONE who checks out as a non-bot.

When they don't restrict things, bots are able to get thousands of seats in seconds, so I think their servers are fine.
Taylor Swift is doing the verified fan method and according to what i've read, there are ways to "boost" your chances from buying merchandise and pre ordering her album. Pretty terrible that ticketmaster has turned to this
I feel the same as Les Wickedly and am worried about Harry Potter too. I don't live in New York with the opportunity to go when tickets are offered on second and third rounds. I'm planning a trip to New York in the spring. If you miss out on the first round, I could be screwed for the period I plan to be in New York - unless I want to pay scalper's prices which I refuse to do.
Add this - Harry Potter is not one but two plays. I hope that Ticketmaster figures out a way so you can choose Part 1 and Part 2 successively like you buy a round trip airline ticket. It would be horrible if they make you go through the whole purchasing process for Part 1 and then start over again for Part 2.
Got stuck between a rock and a hard place this morning. Got a code last night.didn't get one last time. Was on ticketmaster at 10 sharp. Put in for cheapies on a Tuesday in January. Site said searching, don't reload or open in another browser or I'd lose my place on line. So how long do I wait? After 20 minutes I figured I was screwed but I waited it out to no avail. Don't need to see the acoustic Bruce so I'm not that upset, but the system is not good.
