Well then they need to hurry up and take those seats off sale.

Maybe someone should let the producers know —. Because they’re still selling tickets.

Ah yes, a child on reddit decided to spread a rumor which has no source or confirmation. Nope. Don't put rumors on here, thanks.
Unless it's confirmed, it has absolutely no weight.

A week before Christmas. Tourists (and producers) are all crying. Horrible for everyone.

I wonder what percentage of cancelled ticket holders are rebooking vs. getting refunded.
Update: we have decided to go ahead and cancel. I am very sad, but we are trying to be responsible. I guess I can hope that at some point Caroline will be filmed, but I know that’s unlikely.

Stop testing… whats the point… if you have no symptoms, why are they testing? Were two years into this thing…. This crazy testing protocol is just causing depression for the whole theater community.. End the madness.. this is RIDICULOUS!! On top of that losing future customers bc you can’t communicate to guests that the show is canceled until after they’ve already been seated. Really hope at this point broadway just goes digital… people are starting to realize they can spend $20 watching shows on tv instead of crazy cash on stupid tickets. This business model is completely done. Broadway will never come back unless the bozos that are in charge let an outside venture capitalist take care of daily business operations.
Was told a show at Theater Row cancelled and saw a post on Facebook on the Jersey Boys page that their matinee was cancelled.

I had two trips scheduled this month (this weekend for Company, and an overnight the 29th/30th to take my mother to see Hadestown). We canceled both, having fully refundable airfare and hotel, and we have rebooked for end of February (Hadestown), and April (Company). I would have booked Hadestown a bit further out, but since refunds are only confirmed through Feb. 28th right now, we figured we'd book within that window and wait and see. I can see a lot of folks being scared off of rebooking only for future cancellations to occur, though. I'm just hopeful this current surge levels off before then (heck, I'm hopeful it tapers off before my trip at the end of January...don't know what will happen if they have to cancel Music Man).

Covering the role of Chicken Little at this performance is Broadwaybuff17. lol
FYI, it's not about YOU. You or your radical republican venture capitalists. Those of us to love theatre know that what we need is responsible management, not irresponsible billionaires who see human capital as fungible.

Asymptomatic people can still spread it if they have it. 2yrs later and people have to explain it to you.

Testing, no matter the disease, has always been the answer for knowledge, prevention, stopping the spread, etc. I’m actually surprised more industries haven’t been adamant about testing the way theatre has been, where results are known very quickly. Cancellation is actually stopping and preventing further spread of covid.

So can your bartender and waiter… last time i checked , nobody cares if theyve been tested!! But all of a sudden being masked at a theater with a fully vaccinated crowd… people running for the hills.. Pathetic

What am I being ignorant about… you really think you’re going to evade this disease? Your gonna live in fear everywhere you go? Reality check… everyone will get covid.. anyone that goes anywhere knows the risks… fyi, football is basically throwing out the testing protocol for vaccinated players… i know broadway isnt a pioneer in anything they do, but they eventually will too.

Etai got sick last night and Jacob Dickey is the 1st cover for Paul but he was on as Theo - that means Nicholas Rodriguez was not ready-rehearsed to go on as Paul last night when Etai got sick w/ food poisoning. Sound right?
Per Playbill:
Did you know that NYS had a record-high number of positive tests yesterday? That hospitals are overcrowded and short-staffed upstate? That so many people are maskless outdoors in crowded Christmas markets, on crowded sidewalks, and on subways? That so many have not received their booster shot when vaccine immunity has waned, especially in light of a new variant of the disease? That it’s actually the right thing to do not to go to work if you are knowingly ill and have tested positive for a highly contagious disease? But by all means, give examples of professional sports leagues, which have been so reckless and careless over the past two years just so they can make money from the people who don’t understand that a global pandemic is still happening.

BroadwayBuff17, perhaps an old poster under a new name, reminds me of French general Mireau from Stanley Kubrick's Paths Of Glory. I'm sure many here remember him.

You have the same person who tests positive on a monday probably testing himself 3 or more times before being negative. Numbers are all a scare tactic.. Let me know the number of people who are actually positive.. not the number of tests.

I like this one better because it has a drop down menu and you can pick the days. Playbill is a huge chart but it also includes the cancellations.

People who test positive on a PCR test (which are the tests being reported by New York State) are actually advised NOT to retest and just to isolate for ten days without retesting, for the exact reason you've identified. (And because people can still show as positive even weeks after an initial test, even when they aren't contagious anymore.) So it's definitely not true that a substantial portion of the positive tests are from people who had already tested positive and are just retesting.
