Nobody assymptomatic is gonna willfully quarantine for 10 days unless they test again..Stop fooling yourself.

The ignore feature is such a handy tool on here. Thank you for reminding me about it.
That poster has only posted false information about Covid19 and vaccines on this board. It's the only thing they have ever talked about. Ever. Fighting a person who is only here to supply lies, false information and anti vaccine rhetoric is pointless and a waste of everyone's time.
Stay safe everyone (except Broadwaybuff who is neither buff nor interested in Broadway in any way.)
Haven't used that ignore feature in a while. Felt good.

A PCR test is very sensitive and very accurate and it's going to have the exact same result the second time as it did the first time. And legally they're required to quarantine regardless...they're not even allowed to leave quarantine to go back to the testing site. I had covid last month (asymptomatic, was getting tested for travel) and the New York hospital testing site explicitly told me NOT to come back and test again and just to isolate for ten days and then show proof of the positive test for travel purposes, because I'd likely test positive again even after being no longer contagious. And they reminded me of substantial fines for not quarantining and that I might get a call or visit from a compliance officer to make sure I was quarantining, so...I'm going to guess most people are quarantining and not retesting, based on all of that. A second positive testing result isn't going to help them and might just start the whole quarantine process all over again, and a PCR test is very unlikely to give a false positive one day and then a negative the next day.

I like this one better because it has a drop down menu and you can pick the days. Playbill is a huge chart but it also includes the cancellations.

Oh thanks for sharing this one! I hadn't seen it yet and I like how it includes next week's schedule on the same chart.
I still have no problem going to a Broadway venue.
That said, as excited as I was to see Darren Criss at the Beacon Theatre on Monday, I'm even more sad to have to cancel. With my pre-existing conditions, the rising COVID numbers, and MSG venues, like the Beacon Theatre, are still not requiring masks like the Broadway theatres, I just can't do it. Thankfully he thought ahead and set up a Livestream, so I won't miss it, but I was really looking forward to it.

Little Shop canceled tonight's performance (12/18) and SNL is going to be filmed without an audience and limited staff.

Pre RA here as well as another inflammatory disease, also feel very safe going in theatres. Was just in a local professional theatre a few nights ago and they even have an indirect contact tracing system set up which is really neat. Darren Criss cancelled his Hershey stop unexpectedly (assuming lack of ticket sales?) but I didn’t realize there was a Livestream. If I’m able to, I’ll try to watch the Livestream so thank you for mentioning that!

I had tickets for tomorrow and got an email at around 3:30 today that it was cancelled
This is all giving me March 2020 tease and ion like that.
Anyone else hearing that the Doubtfire opening party was the superspreader?

The Public's new policy -- 3 shots and a negative test within 24 hours of curtain -- will never fly in 1500+ Broadway houses. Imagine trying to verify all of that with a far more demographically and geographically diverse (i.e. tourist) audience. It's a nightmare. And Delta or Omicron: the whole point of masking is to skip the testing, because masks block on-site transmission. It's hard to fathom a world where tests are so available (they're not everywhere), the results easily transportable, that we can require them for access. It's a bridge too far to fill 1000+ seats 8 times a week, and will block the 24-48 hour before casual theatergoer decision -- the person buys a TDF ticket and wants to show up the next day (me, racing off to matinees). The testing requirement makes theatergoing tantamount to flying overseas.

Agreed. New York presently has reasonably good capacity for testing everyone who wants a test, but if 1500+ people x 30 Broadway shows needed tests every single day, that would overwhelm testing capacity very quickly and be an incredibly poor use of resources (and would likely skew positivity rates for the entire state to make them look much lower than they really are).
All these cancellations are devastating. I'm so nervous for the next couple of months.

I bought a last minute ticket to see Wicked tonight and was VERY surprised to see not one understudy on
If Broadway were to implement a negative test requirement for audiences along with vaccine and mask mandates (like what the Public is doing) I wonder to what extent that would really make a difference in the number of positive tests among cast members? Considering Broadway is prohibiting face-to-face interactions between performers and audience (e.g. no stagedoor), even if there were Covid-positive audience members, it's probably exceedingly unlikely that that's how the actors are getting it. More likely they're picking it up going about their lives outside of the show (the subway, the grocery store, their family members, you name it) which is something that Broadway can't really control.
Obviously we don't want audience members testing positive either, but that's not gonna shut down a show, and I'm not sure that putting in stricter safety protocols for them is gonna make much difference to the cast.
I seriously doubt that opening night party was THE super spreader. Christmas parties are happening, nightlife is back and SantaCon came back.

SantaCon… avoid, avoid, avoid. I didn’t know it was happened when I got to NYC a few years ago and there was Santa’s everywhere. Just so much red.
