I would be pretty shocked to see Hadestown close. I wouldn't be surprised if Aint Too Proud, Tina, Girl From the North Country, Doubtfire, MJ, and/or Flying Over Sunset are not long for this world though.
Yes, it was interesting talking with the ones that were off due to positive tests. Where Hadestown is a show of “concern” aside from the cases was the theatre goers. They are preparing for a dead winter. One that has not been seen in a very long time. And with that show even though they are paid off and money in the bank. The expenses that were added to reopen. Some of which came to a fraction of what it originally took to rehearse and put together has indebted the shows. Even with the government funds. Now the question for the producers has been is it worth keep a less than mainstream show open and invest to stay a float or bow out while their is no net loss.
Even the big money shows have been having rumblings of bowing out (Aladdin, Book of Mormon ) though that’s yet to be seen. from market projections 2022 stands to be a year where families in general will be hit with a growing cost of food and living that a trip into the city will not be of consideration.
Today we should be getting updates regarding the performance schedules of Moulin Rouge!, Mrs. Doubtfire, SIX, and Tina. My instinct tells me that Tina and perhaps Doubtfire could very well announce retroactive closings... if not today, then soon. SIX and Rouge! may push back to next week, as the other shows on pause have done recently.

With what money? It ain't happening, so let's stop this talk. It's frankly salt in wounds for the Work From Homes to keep calling for this when the service and entertainment industry needs everything to stay open.

We shall find out by the end of today."
I'm sure I'll be chastised for mentioning the Tonys, but I wonder if Doubtfire were to close prematurely if it could still be eligible for the awards since nominators/voters wouldn't have had time to attend.
Dumb question, but I don't understand what's behind shows extending their cancellations the day before (or in this case, day of) they're supposed to be back on? If the problem is manpower, is it that people aren't recovering as quickly as expected? Or because by the time one person is back on their feet another has tested positive?

I'm 100% expecting them to close now. Their advance for the Winter is probably worse than Jagged's was.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I don’t fully understand how shows are deciding when to cancel and for how long - in terms of positive cases.
At this point we know how the virus spreads, and usually how long it is contagious. If someone tests positive, shouldn’t the entire show cancel / cast be quarantining? Even if everyone else tests negative after the one cast / crew is positive, it can take up to 3 days before another positive develops.
How are the shows managing this? As it sort of feels like they are bringing in the coverage, while it’s very likely someone else would also be infected and spreading to more cast / crew.
How many empty theatres do you think there will be by Spring?
The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince
I’m sure the Doubtfire company is quarantining etc., but if they don’t have enough coverage (we forget that crew positions also need coverage to run the show safely), then I assume they will cancel. I bet this is a day-by-day thing for the shows that have extended cancelations. If enough of the company tests negative, they will go on with the show.

The only way Flying Over Sunset will close is if all of Broadway shuts down. It is a limited run.
