Most everyone buying tickets are enormous fans of the 1968 film FUNNY GIRL. The endless amounts of female artists who reference Streisand and the film as their first inspiration speaks for itself. Many are unaware that it was originally a 1964 Broadway production. Based on people I know who bought tickets and are excited to see the revival on Broadway are completely unfamiliar with the stage version. They actually were expecting to see a recreation of the film on stage, just with this cast in those roles. I’m sure most are unaware Fanny Brice was even a real person as the film does not include “based on a true story” at the start to inform them.

Isn't it more like "inspired by a true story carefully crafted by her son-in-law and to avoid a lawsuit by Nicky Arnstein"
Good Lord. How boring does that all look. Where's the Glitz and the Glamour? Maybe someone is still sewing somewhere East of Broadway.. Black and red? Really!
If you go to Broadway.com to buy ''Funny Girl'' tickets, there's a note that reads: ''Beanie Feldstein will not perform from April 29 through May 2 and from Aug. 26 through Aug. 28.'' But if you go to funnygirlonbroadway.com, I didn't see a similar notice on that site. (Or did I miss it?) Also, the funnygirlonbroadway.com lists a show for Tues., April 26, but Broadway.com doesn't. Which one is correct?

Put on your glasses, hun! The photo is Merch. It doesn't mean the set and costumes are going to be black and red.

After you click on any of those dates on funnygirlonbroadway.com, you’re taken to SeatGeek, the official ticketer for the show. SeatGeek has a red casting alert note at the top of the 4/29, 4/30, 5/1, 8/26, 8/27 and 8/28 pages indicating that Beanie is out. Also, tickets are on sale for Tuesday 4/26 at SeatGeek.

Duh yourself. I was pointing out that a fabulous production overall of Company can trump what you assert are people's desires to see such strong singing. If Funny Girl is a strong overall production perhaps the same will be true with it even if Feldstein's singing isn't what some or many people expect. Or maybe it will be its downfall.
I kind of doubt Barbra will see this production. She certainly wouldn't attend on opening night and upstage Beanie's presumed moment in the spotlight, would she?

I don’t think she’d want to do that, as she would overshadow the whole production, not just Beanie. I bet she would sneak in later on in the run if she’s in town, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t go at all.
Why would you be surprised? You know the production is working double time to try to make that photo op happen. To have Barbra’s “blessing” is the best PR this show could EVER hope to get.
