And I have to say I have been completely amused by Brody's stages of Funny Girl. First he was hesitant, then totally excited, then "my interest is now ZERO", then "I CANNOT WAIT", now it's defending the tone of someone's voice which won't be a completely different voice by opening night. Like, it will not. Sorry.
I've never heard Steven Pasquale, Kelli O'Hara or Audra McDonald in a sitzprobe and said "Nah, that isn't really how they sing, they will sound completely different by Saturday!".
I agree that this is more or less what she’ll probably sound like in the role. She might be marking a little bit since it’s the sitzprobe, but you can get a decent sense of how she’s handling the songs, and what her voice sounds like in the role.
Where my opinion differs from some others here is that I actually think she sounds just fine. A little nasal in the middle maybe, but somewhat better on the highest notes. She’s definitely singing it better than Sheridan Smith, whom I still loved in the role. I don’t mind a bit of nasality as long as Feldstein isn’t struggling to hit and sustain the notes, which it doesn’t sound like she is. Ultimately, it will come down to each audience member’s subjective opinion about the timbre of her voice, and how well she acts the role (which will, of course, also be subjective).
And of course how she is able to sustain singing this mammoth role 8 times a week for a year. Sheridan Smith really struggled vocally in the part and she was a seasoned musical theatre vet.

I mean, it's still very early so things could still change. But Beanie's voice sounds dreadfully nasal. It does sound prettier when she lifts into her upper register and there's a little more vocal power than in previous performances (though no indication that she'll blow the roof off the theater). And at least she doesn't have Sheridan's god awful accent. I'm sure costumes and styling will help and maybe they'll develop romantic chemistry but right now Ramin looks like her high school teacher or her friend's dad. I'm not going to buy a ticket off of that video but it might not be as bad as some people are predicting.

Trying to control people on the internet must be so exhausting for you.
Ramin sounds incredible, Jared looks amazing. Sadly, a thin nasal voice (Christina Applegate or Anna Kendrick) does nothing for me or this production. Oh well. The rest of it will be amazing, Im sure!"
The only exhausting person on this thread, as per usual, is you.
Beanie sounds like so many who sing on Broadway today with the nasal quality. That being said the clip of "Parade" sounds good. It's just not a voice to die for but it isn't the disaster some people are making it out to be.

The real Fanny was aggressively Jewish (yes, there IS such a quality) in performance, not a beauty (in fact, kind of a meeskite), waaaay over the top and still loveable and a bit sexy.
Maybe Mimi Hines came close. Or Marilyn Michaels."
It's not a documentary."
Like a show about Mae West shouldn't have an actress who reminds you physically of Mae? Or a show about Ann Richards shouldn't have an actress who has a Richards resemblance? What's the point? Then you could just get my Dentist's daughter to do it....oh, wait.....

doesn't look like this is selling much either. Is this an instant flop?
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Oh look, another thread, another bitchy comment from you. Don’t you ever get tired? In any case, if you don’t like what you see, DON’T GO. I assure you the production will be just fine without you there.
Matt: Not worth your breath. She (he?) is insufferable and spends way too much of his/her time trolling this board. Take that as a sign that they have nothing more important going on in their life.

It’s pathetic, actually."
You are 100% right, and also have you noticed that anytime anyone calls her out on her endless nonsense, the messages quickly go POOF and disappear. So being snarky and nasty is apparently allowed on here, but calling out the snark and the nastiness is a step too far.
Pleasantly surprised for the most part, though I still get that most-talented-senior-doing-Fanny-in-high-school vibe. I’ve seen them at Papermill’s annual rising star competition. Not intended as an insult, just a description. It’s not a womanly take, and that’s not age - she’s 7 years older than Streisand was in the Broadway iteration. Is that a liability? We’ll see. I don’t see the sophistication but it’s just a music rehearsal, if a special one
Those who believe this an inaccurate indication of her (eventual) vocals: this isn’t found footage; it’s released by the production. The intention is to reassure ticket buyers that this cast has the vocal chops. She can clearly sing these songs. Can she sing them 8 times a week in a triple threat presenting, organic performance? She has previews to learn what it will require of her.

Love that people are so passionate about this show as evidenced by the discussion here.
Gonna save my energy for reacting to an actual performance to see how all the elements come together and what Beanie brings to the role. I may be a bad gay, but Streisand matters little to how I'll judge this production. If the show works, the performances are strong, and the experience is enjoyable, I'll be good.
Personally, I'd pay just to see Jared Grimes tap dance on a Broadway stage.

If I were inclined to see this show, it would be for one reason alone: Jane Lynch. In the Sitzprobe clip, I was taken by her enthusiasm and apparent joy. She was rockin' it!
Annnnnnnnnd just like that, every post calling Miss Ross out on her endless nastiness have been deleted. This is getting ridiculous and quite pathetic. I see none of her bitchy posts deleted and the mods ignored me when I sent them a private message about it. Is she a financial contributor to this site? I’m sure I and others would be happy to make a contribution to never have to see her posts again.
The three supporting stars are a damned good reason to go. Maybe it’s a bigger factor than some of us acknowledged. And smart marketing to place the quartet over the title.
