The Vanity Fair pull quote sets expectations a little high...
It feels like they are subconsciously trying to remind people of HELLO, DOLLY.
I personally think that was very deliberate on their part. Absolutely.

I should have phrased differently –– the marketing team & producers are being very deliberate to try to get into the audience's subconscious that this could be a big glossy joyful revival, similar to H,D! But if you want to convey joy, get rid of the black color scheme.

Ah, I gotcha.
But if you want to convey joy, get rid of the black color scheme.
May I ask what color you would use for that purpose? I'm always curious about the people who decide what something like a marquee or a window card should look like for a show.
Large amounts of black generally do not convey joy in advertising...it's a cool, dark, sleek, sometimes hip color. BUT, black is also a super safe neutral color if they haven't fully fleshed out the campaign art yet, which I imagine is the case.
Was there a print ad in today's NYTimes Fall Preview?
It isn't a Fall show, so I'd imagine no?
And yeah it's def. giving a Hello Dolly vibe. But I'm just curious if this is a remounting or a totally different approach? But compared to Company and The Music Man... not sure this was the season..
Great points, guys. And no, I didn't see one today.
The press release claims the production is not a direct transfer of the London production. It has the same producers, director, and book adapter, but different choreographers and set designer. My guess is it's a bit of a hybrid: Harvey Fierstein/Michael Mayer might be continuing to retool the book and the show overall, but it will more resemble a sibling of the London production. Someone on Twitter also claimed to know that the Broadway production will utilize a larger orchestra than the London production.
We'll see what happens!
This is all so interesting. What if Impeachment tanks? I'm so curious. Just not the revival I thought we'd get.

Why would Impeachment affect Funny Girl?
Has anyone been officially announced as who is playing Nicky ? I know there were names tossed of who was going to be asked, but I never saw any official announcement this summer.
And is Rosie out of the show for sure ?
To the best of my knowledge, no other players have been confirmed. Wouldn't surprise me if we don't hear about it until the winter - unless they cast a big name.
Goodness... the over examining of what is potentially text placeholder that conveys a vibe similar to the original Broadway artwork and color scheme that suggests that they may be producing artwork that pays homage but has not been approved or finalized yet but needed a website and artwork out there to time with the recent talk show appearance and Impeachment for anyone searching for Beanie Feldstein and/or Funny Girl yes this is a run-on sentence have a happy Monday. lol.
The 2012 Broadway revival was scrapped when producers backed out. The creatives didn’t want to mount a budget production and since no other funding was possible, they chose to just scrap everything. Everyone knows FUNNY GIRL needs a lavish production - 6 Ziegfeld Follies showgirls ain’t gonna cut it. “Don’t Rain on my Parade” will need to blow the roof off at the end of Act 1 and not just musically (yes, Streisand basically sang it out solo and stage center back in 1964-65, but the song has since become legendary standard). I think it’s safe to assume this revival will be up to what is expected on Broadway, and not an intimate, stylized art piece that FUNNY GIRL never was.
Ramin Karimloo has been the rumored Nicky (not Oscar Isaac, jesus he would never take a role that dumb especially with the major year he is having). I imagine they will announce that casting and other roles later (and a theatre and dates and designers)
Rosie's involvement has always been sketchy, so I am assuming NO she is not involved... (or at least not yet)
We should manage our expectations: do not expect this to be as lavish as DOLLY or a Bart Sher LCT revival. Perhaps more the scale of a recent Roundabout revival or James Lapine's ANNIE. But that's all speculation.

"She very sweetly wrote on my Instagram," Feldstein said of Michele's message, adding, "I don't know the woman whatsoever."

This is once again another attack on Lea article. It's bullying cruel and has no place in this board. Due has nothing to do with this production. Delete this. Thanks.

That art is pretty awful and I hope it's a placeholder for now. Itfeelslike they are subconsciously trying to remind people of HELLO, DOLLY."
This. I thought I was the only one who thought so about the art. I feel like they're trying to remind us of Hello, Dolly or attract DOLLY fans with the promotional material.

The cartoon is just not it.
I think Company SHOULD win as I think Music Man is provably a pretty standard take on the show. So we shall see!
Have the revivals spiced up the second act? In the 60’s book she wants stardom and Nicky and gets them both. In act two very little happens. Her biggest action is trying to find Nicky a job. She’s scolded for it by Nicky and her mother for it. And then she loses Nicky.
Nicky’s a bore so I’d like to see the revival give her some more career hurdles to overcome.

Or they could give Nicky a reason or two to be shirtless. That'd be okay with me too.
I hope Harvey keeps "Temporary Arrangement" for Nicky/Ramin. I wonder if they will try to squeeze any of the songs added to the film for the show?
Amber Ardolino, who posted on TikTok a few weeks ago that she's leaving Hamilton for another opportunity, has been posting clues about what that is, and it's pretty clear that she'll be joining Funny Girl in some capacity.
Meg Zervoulis will be the associate MD. I’m not sure who the music director / conductor is yet.
Welcome back to the August Wilson, Meg! Funny Girl will be her first Broadway show since becoming a mother.
