Yeah she used to do that all the time on her talk show. I mostly remember her trying to get rumors started that she was gonna be in the movie version of Chicago with Madonna. This was years before the actual movie happened

She was attached. At that time, the cast was Madonna and Goldie Hawn, but there was no director attached. When Nicholas Hytner was hired, he fired Goldie for Charlize Theron, which caused Madonna to quit and Rosie went with her. Pam Grier was hired to replace Rosie. Obviously, this version went nowhere.

Her voice reminds me a LOT of Adele's (I love Adele!). I'm sure she did a lovely job in the role, but my vote would be for Jessie Mueller, if Mueller wants to do it.

I agree that she reminds me of Adele although I didn’t make that comparison when I saw her in the show. I also agree that Mueller could be awesome as Fanny.

I'd rather have Lea Michele in this so she can stay far away from Wicked. I just don't think Gaga is right for Fanny.

They are also both known properties, and not original musicals. I'm not sure a revival of a 50-year-old musical with a 1968 movie version is going to drive as many people to the box office as a Tina Fey comedy. And the property is synonymous with Barbra, so the reason people are attached to the show would not be part of any revival. Not sure how these are comparable.

I think this is a case of Rosie putting it out there so people think oh mabye that could work and get interested, and then they approach Rosie to do it with all the buzz. But after seeing clips of her in Grease, lets keep her away from Broadway.

You need someone FUNNY for this. Like. ACTUALLY FUNNY. Let someone like Natalie Walker make her Broadway debut in this or someone from the comedy/standup/improv world with vocal chops. Jessie Mueller is like...amusing? So talented, but comic actress first...not sold.

If it is the London production- I hope they spend a bit more money on it and redesign it- it was Fugly as sin.

I don’t believe for a moment that Gaga will ever so this on stage, though it would be amazing if she did. And the hottest ticket Broadways ever seen.

Mayer? Yes, please. Rosie? Yes, please. Gaga? Fingers crossed. (And I am NOT a Gaga fan, but even I think it's a great idea.)

I bet it's being talked about, but without Gaga, I doubt the money materializes.

This is definitely happening.   Lady Gaga wants to cover all platforms of the entertainment world and her Broadway debut in something at this level will make this FUNNNY GIRL revival (its first on Broadway since its debut in 1964) happen.  Even if she only does it in a super limited run, she most definitely will want this opportunity even if she has to co-produce it herself.  This could be either at the end of her Las Vegas residency or during a hiatus, which ALL artists who have had Las Vegas residencies have done.  No one has done 2 year non-stop runs, they've taken months off in between.

Do you know who we're talking about here? She's started her training in musical theatre and is fresh off one of the hottest film performances in a movie musical since Jennifer Hudson (and getting better reviews). If the timing were right and the money is there, then she'd jump at a chance like this. Especially given that this would be the first EVER revival of the show on Broadway.
