sad faces all around :[
This means I will have 2 shows in one day. First "Gypsy", then "Spamalot". It will be a draining day. At least the 2 theatres are right across the street from each other. :)
Well ****.
I try not to be so open with osbcenity on a public forum, but there really are no other words.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

No, no, no, NO! I haven't gotten a chance to see this yet, outside YouTube clips and was planning a mid-Feb trip to NYC. I seriously don't think I can move my trip up either...
PLEASE FILM!
Dammit dammit! Well, it's on TDF for the 11th so get it while you can.
By the way, no one should be surprised by Elphaba3's bias, negative AND immature comments. Granted it's a brillantly written line!
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
That is straight f**ked up!!
I was hoping this wouldn't happen but I saw it coming. And I am afraid there might be more to come or some "postponements" of upcoming shows. The economy.
Well, I guess this is no surprise, but sonuvabich. No taping, then, I guess.
well, I'll certainly miss it. it'd be nice to go to the closing performance, even though that's not really my thing.
and really, Elphaba3? really?

Well I guess I'll be saving a lot of money in February since there's not much that will be open. Bummer.
I think I'll try and see this again this week and again in January before it closes.
I'm extremely jealous (as I bet most theatre employees are) of the people at the bullet proof shows like SOUTH PACIFIC, WICKED, and MAMMA MIA right now.
Broadway's going to be so empty come February.
I hate to be so brutally honest, but I don't think the economy affected this one THAT much.
The last revival with Bernadette only stayed open for a year and a month. This one will have stayed open for 9 and a half. That is only 3 month which is the cause of the economy. Yes, Gypsy closing earlier than March 1st is because of the economy but it was going to close anyway in a few months... I wouldn't consider this one a casualty from the good ol' recession.

Then why wouldn't it just last until March?
I randomly bought tickets today for 1/3. So happy I did.
That's what I said it would have last until March at best, and yes the economy is closing it early, but it should not be looked as one of the shows that could have survived if there wasn't a recession... it would have closed anyway. Understand?

That's NOTHIN', alright.
Thier numbers hadn't been great as of late, so I'm not surprised.
But I agree with one of the other posters: it's only closing 6 weeks early; not quite as sad as some of the other shows closing.
Those with questions about tix you already bought. YES, you will get your money back...and while it does happen automatically, you are still better off going directly to the box office or calling telecharge. WHEREVER your point of sale was.
For those of you going: enjoy!
im really eager to see if chicago is going to survive.
has avenue Q made an official closing statement?
We have gone over this SO many times. Chicago will SURVIVE.
Especially if Tom Cruise or John Stamos take over for Billy Flynn haha
"Good riddance to bad rubbish."
Well, to each his own, but have the damn decency to back your opinion up. Geez.
Not that I was going to see it any time soon (I haven't seen the show since City Center), but I did feel a little bit of sadness when I saw the announcement.
Best of luck to the cast and crew. I do hope a filming (if one was ever planned) still occurs.
