Great! Now the musical adaptation of "American History X" starring Michael Cerveris can move into the St. James sooner!

I absoultely knew this was going to happen. I'd wait until I had the "time," they'd push back the closing and then when I did have the time, it would be impossible to get Student Rush :/

I agree, no god at all. When La Lupone and co. giving performances of a lifetime cant even sell tickets it means we have hit rock bottom. I never really wanted to believe it but Broadway is slowly dying away.
<------ Me and my friends with patti Lupone at my friends afterparty for her concert with audra mcdonald during the summer of 2007.

Rob! That little frowny face under the link made my heart break! You are Rob! You have to be strong for the rest of us! If even Rob is making frowny faces, there is no hope for plebeian posters like myself.

Inevitable. This sucks.
I hope this won't mess up the "alleged" filming that was planned to happen on 3/1.

If anyone wants, this code: GYNYT54 works for the final performance, orchestra and mezz for $59.50 and balcony for $27. I just tried it out and the best it gave me was mezz center row H. I'd recommend ordering ASAP because it's possible they might pull the code for that date.

I am genuinely shocked. January is one hell of a dark month for Broadway.

I just ordered my tickets, and I agree with frogs_fan that you should all order them now, because the discount is likely to be lifted soon!

It was pretty expected. Unfortunate though. Congrats to the cast and Laurents for putting on the production.

I am extremely saddened by this.
I had other plans for that day, but now I will have to find a way to be at this show.

Well, obviously it will effect the "alleged" filming since the show will not be open in March. Either they will film it earlier now or use this as an excuse to say the plans fell through.

I want to apologize for some offensive messages posted on this board under my name. The night 0f 12-15-08 I did not have internet access, and someone had used my name to post something offensive. My avatar was also changed. I dont' know what else was posted, or if anyone recieved bad PMs, but I want to apologize for that. I've changed my password, and even though I was not the one posting these messages it still needed to be corrected.

Omigod! Noooooo... I'm just hoping this won't affect the filming.
Please film. A great show, with great award-winning performances should be filmed. It's a shame if they won't.

PLEASE FILM CLOSING NIGHT!!!!!!!!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Twas a great show! Actors, staging & orchestra seamlessly blended. We were most fortunate to see it.
This January closing harkens back to my broadcast days. At one memorably un-memorable staff meeting the PD/sales manager said, "Folks, if we don't make it over Christmas, we don't make it." And our little station folded for the fiscal year.
Depends on how show biz figures their fiscal year. Earliest is March. So they're cutting their losses earlier here.

Oh my... my heart stopped beating for a second.
I'm so grateful I get to go to NYC in December before it closes...
I find lots of great shows are closing on Broadway (Grey Gardens, Curtains, Drowsy Chaperone, Title of Show)
