I was there last night, too, and I thought Darren was great, much better than I expected. He's funny, he's sexy, and his energy is off the charts. And I loved when he bantered with the sign language interpreters.
There are some wonderful discounts out there. Including $39.00 side orchestra seats..
So Jealous to all who saw LENA "ROCKER" HALL play HEDWIG in LA... I was literally just crying to my husband because he made us go to Albany for Thanksgiving dinner with his parents instead of flying out to LA to see LENA at the gorgeous PANTAGES THEATER this Friday... I'm so upset... I LOVE LENA AND HEDWIG.. Ugh... What a missed opportunity...
LENA IS A TALENT! Hope she wins another Tony soon...

The only way this makes sense to me is if you take out the word "husband" and replace it with "dad."

Just got back from Lena's final show - and SHE. WAS. EVERYTHING. It almost felt like a religious performance.

I was front row today at Darren and Lena'a final performance.
Wow, this performance was otherworldly. I'm in shock at how much Darren brought to Hedwig. Today he gave it his all emotionally and vocally. There were some great riffs he made. And acting wise, I could feel the emotion. Today, Darren actually sang the first line of The Long Grift three times before breaking down. You could see his Hedwig tell herself that she can stay strong and sing the song, but then completely fall apart.
Lena was great as usual. There was a funny moment when Hedwig said "teenage girls started showing up" and Lena did the fangirlimg but did it for a bit too long making it more funny. Her TLG was heartbreaking. At the very end of Midnight Radio, her riffs were crazy and really ended the show on a high note. Literally.
Front row was quite an experience and I would give anything to do it again. I would like to thank Darren, Lena and ToC for a great final performance in LA.

Darren spent some more time on stage waving goodbye and sending kisses. He had tears in his eye. But no on-stage speeches.
At the stagedoor, the security guys told us he left the building after an hour and half of waiting. But we still waited because we knew he wasn't going to leave us hanging.
His car turned around, and he made a speech and then left.
Lena never came out. I guess she needed to be somewhere after the show.

I was at both performances on Black Friday ("Black Fridays Matter" as Darren's Hedwig pointed out to us) and I thoroughly enjoyed both Darren and Lena. I had seen Lena as Hedwig once before, but this being her last show as the character she completely knocked it out of the park. Had she played the part on Broadway I'm confident she would've won the Tony for Best Leading Actress in a Musical. Darren played the role with more humor and ad-libbed a lot more than Lena did, but I didn't feel he captured Hedwig's pain in the later half of the show as well as Lena did. Still, the guy has chops and I have to take a moment to tell everyone how much of a sweetheart he is in person. He finally came out of the stage door after almost 2 hours and made an announcement to all of us that he had family waiting, so he was going to have to speed through everyone tonight and not take any pictures, but he'll sign as many Playbills as he can. I was in the middle of the line at the barricade and it was about 30 minutes before he got to me. He still took his time to talk to everyone and learn everyone's name that he spoke to despite the fact that he had family waiting. What a class act.
Had the privilege of seeing Lena again as Hedwig.
She is everything.
AMAZING.

Are there production shots of Lena as Hedwig other than the poster?

Got tickets for Seattle in a couple weeks so fingers crossed it gets a big thumbs up with the new cast!
Plus the weekend trip is our xmas gift this year to our two sons and their wives, so a double fingers crossed its great!
They are in Chicago 3/07-3/19 - the presale for these ticket is open, but ticketmaster needs an offer code. Does anyone know what the code is?

Wow that was fast, haha. thanks!
This has probably been asked somewhere in the last 10 pages but are they still doing the Hurt Locker jokes on tour and is there a Hurt Locker playbill?
Yup! They still scatter Hurt Locker Playbills on the floor, and reference the set. Hedwig also gives the history of whatever theatre the tour is in.
Dying to hear how Morton is.

Euan should have been the reincarnation not NPH.

@South Florida (or anyone that saw the new cast)
How are they? Any changes? New jokes?

High praise indeed coming from JCM! I'm so curious on who else was in the running....
“The producer was of course looking at more famous people. None of them seemed really right, even if they were good. And he was so good that the producer let go of his objections to a lesser-known person, because he just rocked.”
I'm going to the Seattle show, and after seeing Lena, I'd say he's got some mighty glitzy boots to fill. Looking forward to reading some San Diego reviews.

and know if the Hedwig standby(Mason Alexander Park) has gone on yet?
