This Hedwig production and the Hedwig franchise wouldn't even be a talking point today if NPH hadn't opened the revival. He is paramount to this show's contemporary success.
I wonder if Euan took over on Broadway instead of Taye Diggs how much longer the show would have stayed open.

Well, he is probably better than Taye but his name wouldn't bring ticket sales.
He probably wouldn't have brought on the same lethal word-of-mouth, though.

In that situation, Darren would have closed the run.
How is he in the show? Thinking about buying tickets for NJ or Boston but I wanna make sure I'm not gonna regret it!

No disrespect to Hannah Corneau, but does anyone else find it odd that the producers didn't just let Shannon Conley play Yitzhak full time? She's been with the show since Broadway and is fantastic in the role.

Do we know that they didn't, or that she didn't refuse?!

I suppose that's possible, but when I met Shannon at the stage door after seeing her in LA she was genuinely excited that she was the first Yitzhak I had ever seen and told me how excited she was to go on with Darren later in the week. It seemed like she really loves playing the role and one would assume she'd want to do it full-time, but I could be wrong.

I saw them, but I don't really have anything to compare them to except the cast album. I thought they both sounded great but it wasn't always easy to tell because the sound at the Civic in San Diego is always a problem. Most of the time the music was a lot louder than the vocalists. I was thinking to myself that it was a good thing I already knew the lyrics otherwise I'm sure I would have been totally lost. Euan rocked the score but hasn't quite mastered the musical staging yet. He didn't always seem entirely comfortable jumping around on the set but I'm sure he'll get there. He also makes a joke about Darren Criss having all the privileges of a homosexual but none of the responsibilities. Is that in the script? That made me laugh out loud. I think it was only his third performance as Hedwig and I was thoroughly impressed with how he's playing it as if he's been doing it for months already.
I think that line was used with James Franco's name on B'way

Darren said the line with Franco in SF, but Lena used Darren when she played Hedwig and it got a huge laugh.

Yes! For the show I saw it was "Darren Criss in the back with a GoPro". And then after the audience laughed she said "sorry Darren!" That was her debut and I'm sure he was watching from the back :)

Did they have windowcards with Euan on them? If not, I really hope they make one!

I saw pics of Mason (fb maybe?) in full costume and comments that implied he took the stage on Friday perhaps, but I haven't seen anything confirmed. If so, that would be really early in Euan's run, especially with San Diego only having one week of shows.
They had a tour windowcard with Euan but it's the backlit image of Hedwig they're using on the website home page and Euan's name is only in small print at the bottom with the rest of the production credits.

Thats pretty awesome! Seeing it next weekend in Seattle, can't wait!
I'll be attending the show tonight in Denver so I'll report back! Saw it on Broadway with Darren so I'm really curious how it will be on tour.

is there any way to know if Euan will still be with the show in May, for the NJ date? I really want to see him specifically.
He said he was touring for the next 8 months so I assume he will still be with the tour in May.
I saw it on Saturday with Euan and Hannah. Both of them were really great! Based on the earlier comment that Euan didn't seem comfortable on the set, it seems he is getting more comfortable. Nothing suggested to me he was holding back. I thought he was very compelling and his voice was incredible.

Does anyone have a San Diego or Denver Playbill that I can have?
Willing to trade my LA Playbill.
