Will we be getting a new cast recording, do you think, now that the show has changed? I don’t know how much it has changed since they first recorded it.

We're definitely getting a new cast recording. A lot has changed, and the off-bway recording didn't have all of the songs.

Wow. And I thought the prices were pretty ridiculous before ($99 for the balcony is insane). $209 for extreme sides in the orchestra? Holy crap.
Lots have spoken of not enjoying Mr. Carney. He may not be the best actor out there, but I enjoyed his performance. The wide-eyed, somewhat dim naïveté works and the voice is beautiful on “Wait For Me.” Thought that song was a highlight of the night.

And, personally, I dont find him physically attractive, in fact, I thought every other man in the acting ensemble to be more attractive than he. (I only bring this up because of the comments below from Zion.)
There are probably dozens of NY actors that could have actually sold this role - Carney aint it."
Well, I only brought it up in response to the statement that Carney cant act, isnt good looking and his voice is ugly. I did not love his performance either but i think that statement is wildly exaggerated, if not downright ignorant and reminiscent of Rex Reed.
While I didnt care for the end result, and actually think it undermined the success of the show, it was pretty clear to me his odd acting choices and high singing were the express instructions of his director. He sure *can* sing, so to say his voice is ugly strikes me as silly. (You dont have to look further than "wait for me" actually, to hear him sound quite beautiful when he isnt singing in such a high key). And to say he isnt good looking enough for the role, aside from being childish, also struck me as sour grapes because it just isn't true? To each their own, obviously, but hard for me to take seriously the idea that Mr. Carney is too unattractive for the role- again, he is easily one of the better looking men on stage this season. Its irrelevant to my review of his performance, but happy to correct such a silly statement.

I agree. I’m sure it can be played other ways, but I really appreciated his “wide-eyed, somewhat dim naïveté” approach. I haven’t seen Daunno in the role, but he has a much edgier, not innocent energy that I don’t know would fit in this version of the show.
“Wait for Me” I can’t get out of my head, that moment was so hauntingly beautiful.

For what dates did the code work for? I tried it and it’s not."
I used it last night to get a ticket for next Thursday, but I just checked and that date isn't accepting the code anymore, so looks like they took it down already.
I have been reading all of the comments on here over the past few weeks and finally saw the show last night for the first time since downtown. WOW is all I can say.
It's got the simplicity of The Band's Visit and Fun Home (as opposed to a huge splashy musical) but boy is it gorgeous. I was not bored for a single moment although it moves at its own pace. But there was always something to captivate and hold attention, I thought.
Andre De Shields... what a master of his craft. I really hope he wins a Tony for this performance. It's so perfect. And the rest of that cast. Patrick and Amber... I love them and truly were the emotional center of the story for me... had tears at the end about them.
Now all of these comments about Reeve Carney have me baffled. He's great! He's sort of a bit of a simpleton... that's the point, right? Isn't the whole description and theme that we should see the world through his eyes? He's optimistic and innocent and unjaded, unlike the rest of the characters. He gives us hope. I looked at him like a Forest Gump type of person. And that voice! Yes...he sings in his high voice... that's what Reeve does! He's known for that, right? Loved him... no complaints at all.
I really can't wait to see the show again. I don't usually rush back to shows, but I just want to see it again. It's so friggin beautiful and mesmerizing. And that music.

The code is still working, at least for non-weekend dates until mid-May. I just used it for week of May 6.
iwuldwf - I see that's it's not being accepted for 4/25. I think it may be that seats fitting the offer code are all gone?

I paid $199 for center orch row J, seat 109; the remaining seats in that area jumped to $299 overnight.

I have two of these type shows booked for the same day in late-August: HADESTOWN for the matinee, then MOULIN ROUGE for an evening performance. Glad I bought my tickets when I did.
For those who have seen this production in London, were there any major differences? Just wondering why this production didn't get any Olivier nominations yet is getting a lot positive reviews and buzz here in NYC!

I haven't seen it, but it sounds like Hermes role has been increased significantly.
I think the main problem in London was (for me) the staging looked like a kit model plopped in the middle of a huge stage and the action was confined to this tiny little spot in the centre of the model.
It looks like it fits much better into the stage on Broadway.

I got my MR seat the presale, it was still expensive af. Its worse now, or the last I checked so Im glad when I did too but Hadestwon easily spiked up $100 on almost everything. Good for them, as they'll prolly make the money but I know rush will be insane for this so not sure when Ill be able to see it. Wanted to see this in early August as well.

Basically it was treated as a limited pre-broadway tryout instead of a London run.
There are changes. The ensemble was reduced from 7 to 5. Some staging changes, but really there are a ton of small lyric and movement changes that made such a big difference. You can find some clips on YouTube of the London run.

Glad I took everyone’s advice and bought tickets for this yesterday for my August trip. I just looked at today’s prices for the seats next to mine and they are $100 more than what I paid less than 24 hours ago.
For anyone still looking for cheap tickets, ShowScore is running a couple of socials with mezz from 94-114 and orchestra for 114-144. I am sure these will go super fast so buy them now while you can, but they are a great deal especially now with the price hike.
the price hike is INSANE. they definitely changed something with the code tho. We got seats for 5/1 row D mezzanine, and they were $109 each (149 before discount) and the entire row was at the price I just checked now... the seats went up to $229 and not offering the code.
Woooooow. I'm coming back to NYC in May, and was flip flopping between seeing this again (because I absolutely loved it) and seeing Oklahoma for the first time, and this price hike has basically made the decision for me. The center rear orch seats we had in March have basically doubled in price.
