Well this wasn’t started as a “dream casting thread” but as a “someone who knows what they’re taking about said this is the revival that might be in the works”.
Good God, please let this happen. Toni is perfect for this and we've missed her. I'd love to have a little Wild Party reunion by having Tonya Pinkins as Vera.
Also, Cher and Meryl would be awful in Mame. I feel like whenever one of them get suggested for this show, it's by someone that's never actually seen Mame.
I'd love a Connie and Carla reunion with Nia Vardalos! Toni deserves a great musical to showcase her talents- IMO she is so underrated. Take my money now!

This revival would have to be a couple of years out though. Rudin's got West Side Story this year and then The Music Man next. I can't imagine that he'd throw another big musical revival in competition with those two. Maybe Toni's got a break where she can squeeze in a big musical revival in two years.
I dont really think she is a big enough name to sell this show, and let's face it MAME is even more expensive to produce than DOLLY. But I'd go see her play the role in a heartbeat.
“I knew who I was this morning, but I've changed a few times since then.”

"Good for the gays," "give the gays everything they want," etc. etc. is common colloquialism among younger queer people, particularly on the internet. Calm down.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

I'm here to celebrate Toni Collette - not bicker with a tired old hag with nothing better to do than snark on an entirely innocent post. Find someone willing to argue with you or let your nurses know its time for your afternoon pills.

Is it?--my bad--so out of touch with youth--thanks Kad.
I remember when she was promoting Hereditary, a few critics asked her about coming back to Broadway. She basically said she would if it was the right project, but she goes where the work is and likes to challenge herself. Mame feels like a good match and I hope this turns out to be true.
