Someone who knows what hes talking about tweeted a rumor about a Scott Rudin produced revival might be in the works.
AND I WANT IT NOW.

As much as I hope that’s true. I would think they would go with a bigger name recognition ala Bette in hello dolly or Hugh Jackson in the music man
I stick with it that it would not surprise me that the next revival of mame stars. Either Cher or Meryl Streep
Well this wasn’t started as a “dream casting thread” but as a “someone who knows what they’re taking about said this is the revival that might be in the works”.
I’d watch Toni Collette watch paint dry. I’M SO IN.
This is what the gays deserve and I need it to be officially announced this instant.
lolol. It would be a wonderful Pride Month gift for us.
I never knew I needed this but now I do.
Good God, please let this happen. Toni is perfect for this and we've missed her. I'd love to have a little Wild Party reunion by having Tonya Pinkins as Vera.
Also, Cher and Meryl would be awful in Mame. I feel like whenever one of them get suggested for this show, it's by someone that's never actually seen Mame.
The Cher rumors are just that - since the mid 90's, over 25 years. Catherine Zeta-Jones would be a fantastic choice.
Just what I'm hearing...

I'd love a Connie and Carla reunion with Nia Vardalos! Toni deserves a great musical to showcase her talents- IMO she is so underrated. Take my money now!
Her movie career is entering somewhat of a revival so I doubt it.

This revival would have to be a couple of years out though. Rudin's got West Side Story this year and then The Music Man next. I can't imagine that he'd throw another big musical revival in competition with those two. Maybe Toni's got a break where she can squeeze in a big musical revival in two years.

Well it won't have a very long run if it's only 'gays' in the audience.
Probably meant as a joke but why would 'gays deserve' this? Have they been so deprived in their world that this offering will brighten their day?
Ever so grateful to be considered deserving kind Sir.
The whole theatre going public should have the opportunity to see Toni Colette as Mame.
I dont really think she is a big enough name to sell this show, and let's face it MAME is even more expensive to produce than DOLLY. But I'd go see her play the role in a heartbeat.

Stop taking yourself so seriously and lighten up. My post wasn't meant to be taken literally.
Lesbians unite, a fetus wants gays to have their own musical---this is a joke of course.

"Good for the gays," "give the gays everything they want," etc. etc. is common colloquialism among younger queer people, particularly on the internet. Calm down.
OMG SweetLips22. This is a battle to not be picked.

I'm here to celebrate Toni Collette - not bicker with a tired old hag with nothing better to do than snark on an entirely innocent post. Find someone willing to argue with you or let your nurses know its time for your afternoon pills.
A very tired old obvious response from a very obvious tired old fag hag-----joking of course.
Now--back to the topic of Toni Colette in Mame.
I have actually stayed at No1 Beekman[or Bekeman] Place--no prizes to guess which song I sang as I swanned down those stairs each day-----yes,Dolly!

Is this production rumored to happen during this season (2019-20)?

Is it?--my bad--so out of touch with youth--thanks Kad.
I remember when she was promoting Hereditary, a few critics asked her about coming back to Broadway. She basically said she would if it was the right project, but she goes where the work is and likes to challenge herself. Mame feels like a good match and I hope this turns out to be true.
