Just a really DUMB comment."
If you're going to always be the first guy to call out others for bullying, maybe try not doing it yourself. Just a thought.

I know Sutton being nominated after winning twice kind of contradicts this argument, but Katrina won relatively recently and people who care about theater won't forget this performance just because she wasn't nominated. Right now, I'm more interested in Sharon and Joaquina. Carmen and Mare can win for other, better roles.

(I'll give Lenk a pass as I saw her in March 2020, so a lot of room for improvement)"
Katrina can sing the score imo, but she’s just not a belter. It’s the inconsistency that bugs me … i’m not hearing many people saying Billy Crystal shouldn’t have gotten a Tony nom yet he’s not a singer, and has gotten it purely on his acting performance in the show, and by being Billy Crystal I guess lol
Well, nearly 24 hours after the nominations, this is the only robbed, snubbed, disrespect post. Good job everybody!
Haven't seen Company, so no real opinion on Katrina's worthiness. It seems unlikely that she would have won, based on general and critical consensus, so it's just the recognition she's missing out on.
Maybe if you loved her performance, write a note to her saying so. Actors enjoy award and critical recognition, of course, but many I know also really enjoy a a genuine fan complimenting their performance.

I have seen it several times and haven't seen this "growth" that everyone keeps talking about! To me, she is the weakest link.
She won for the Band's Visit! She is a lead in a Broadway Musical. She'll be fine. She will survive.
Her Bobby is not particularly likable. it may be the role. It's an "Everyman or everywoman character devoid of a lot of personality. "Even many men playing Bobby are not likable. It is not the best fit for this actress and role. That is why she was not nominated.
Kristen Chenowith was not nominated for Promises Promises and she has a stellar career.
However in my opinion, she was robbed for Wicked and On the 2oth Century. But I got over it. And so did she! But she won for Sally in Charlie Brown.
Life goes on and so does the show.
I think the producers would have been wise to invite the nominators back for a second visit in the past few weeks to really appreciate how incredible she is in the part.

Fully agree with this. The entire thing makes me sad because I’ve seen her grow so much since the first preview of March 2020.
She did make a lovely post for the nominees on Instagram today, a total class act.

That’s lovely. I remember how indelibly classy Marian Seldes was when Angela was nominated and she was not. Graciously, she wouldn’t hear one uncharitable word about the nominees in the category.
Feb. 28 - Looped, Feb. 28 - Next to Normal, March 4 - Hair, March 11 - A Little Night Music, March 24 - Time Stands Still, April 6 - La Cage Aux Folles, April 10 - Anyone Can Whistle (City Center), April 10 - Looped, May 9 - Enron, May 15 - A Little Night Music, May 15 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Little Night Music, June 20 - A Little Night Music, June 23 - Red, June 23 - Sondheim on Sondheim, July 13 - A Little Night Music, July 18 - The Grand Manner (Lincoln Center)
Invited them? Sure....doesn't mean they would go....also doesn't seem quite kosher. IF they indeed made judgements from early in the run, that IS the way they should vote. Wouldn't many shows look better several months down the road?
And mind you, I LOVED Lenk in this show.
The production reinvited Tony voters, even if they had seen the show previously. I imagine they did the same with the nominators.
I think Katrina was 'robbed' in 2017 when she wasn't nominated for Indecent.

It’s fascinating to me how different people experience this performance. I, on the other hand, felt like this was the first time I understood why anyone was ever friends with Bobby. I found her endlessly charming and likable, vs. the cold and aloof Bobby of Raul Esparza (who I thought was very good as well, doing what his particular production required of him).
Also, her rendition of “Marry Me a Little” is the first time I truly understood the song on an emotional level.

Really? Maybe it’s deeper than I thought.

ME TOO! The pathos she brings to the number, the stream of consciousness, the way she discovers the lyrics bit by bit. It gets me every time.

It has made me sad, too. Katrina also made a very sweet Instagram post to Nikki Renee Daniels, when Nikki covered for her during her bout with Covid. Javier Ignacio was very complimentary to Katrina in his recent interview. A lovely, classy lady.

Now that Drama Desk nominations are out, it's official that Katrina was not nominated for a Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, or Outer Critics Circle Award for her turn as Bobbie. So upsetting, but I hope this thread serves as a record that is preserved for posterity that these omissions were deeply upsetting to a large number of people. I really believe she deserved better for delivering one of the greatest performances I've seen on a Broadway stage.
The fact that she was shut out of the Drama Desks for the actress playing Diana is just utterly mean spirited and a very pointed snub. And yes, I saw both performances.
I don’t understand how else you explain these snubs. It’s insane.
edit: sarcasm & Ozark reference removed. It’s not that deep.

I saw Company over the weekend and LOVED Katrina. Now, after seeing the show I cannot believe she did not receive a nomination. mind blowing.

How does Ozark have anything to do with this??? She delivered a very good performance on the show with an underdeveloped character.
It was a sarcastic/ bad joke trying to make sense of why she’s being snubbed for all these awards - in other words, they couldn’t possibly be snubbing her performance in Company, they must be holding a grudge against her for some other reason. I thought she did a great job in Ozark as well.
Sorry lol I missed the sarcasm. I get your point now.
I didn't like her performance. To put it mildly. And I am far from alone. So, disagree.

No one was robbed. Somebody had a difference of opinion. I thought Lenk was awful and Carmen Cusack was 100 times better, but had the Tony voters disagreed and given Lenk that spot instead, Carmen would not have been "robbed". They just had a different opinion. Art is subjective.
