This logic is truly hilarious. Once someone discloses SOME information, purposefully refusing to disclose all of it, that person gives up the right to privacy as to ALL the information? That makes absolutely no sense.

I happen to agree that its perfectly natural for people to speculate given the breadcrumbs she left, and I think all celebrities (especially those giving interviews) dont have any reasonable claim to total privacy.

But the idea that Kelli O'Hara can't disclose SOME information without giving up her right not to disclose ALL information is beyond me (and any legal understanding of privacy/disclosure works).
"

As some smart people on here said, no one on here was telling her she must disclose the information. We are in every right to speculate as to who we think she is talking about since she talked about it publicly. Please find the post that said SHE must disclose ALL the information now that she gave us some of it. Or did you only see posts saying WE can guess who it is because she told it in a public forum?

Listened to the podcast yesterday and was on my way here to start a thread...

Anyway, can we go back to speculating? I wonder if maybe the other project she was offered by the 'indecent' producer died because she didn't accept?

Tea that was (IMO) tastefully restrained to her cup. wink

Two pages in and still no one has said which podcast this was from.

Well that certainly works in her favor by making vague accusations, involving herself in a cause without actually saying what her issues were, and not specifying who she is accusing.  And, as is typical, the pathetic sycophants on this board rally to support her and demand "privacy" for something she brought up herself.  Laughable.

She has every right to speak out and there is no way to confirm which producer this is at this point or if she has worked on a show with them or not in the past. But yes speculating about who that person is is valid as she did bring it up after all. Shady seems to imply a negative hue to her comment however which I don't believe was accurate.

An indecent producer? Working on Broadway? What an explosive comment!

Definitely didn't mean it like that - I'm a Kelli fan and I really admire that she said what she said, actually.

Interesting that she says it was for this season, since there honestly isn't much she's right for in other shows this season (at least thinking off the top of my head) and many shows have been in development for a while with other stars attached.

The only one that stands out to me as possible is King Lear. Perhaps she wanted to go for something dramatic. I could see her doing Regan or Goneril.

Unless "this season" extends to next season, or productions announced this season. In which case, The Music Man would make sense.

Just dont see much else. Audra has been attached to Frankie and Johnny since the revival's inception. What else would she fit? Maaaaybe Burn This? Unless the project fell apart without her involvement or was pushed to another season, or was in another arena (Off-Broadway/Opera/London,etc)

O’Hara played Regan opposite Sam Waterston in Lear at the Public in 2011.

It”s most likely Oklahoma! She”s bankable enough now that an offer would come her way for it despite her having grown out of the role which I”m sure was a factor in her refusing it as well if this theory is correct.

Wasn't she attached to Superhero for years?   She did all the readings?   Does she have a beef with Second Stage?

But they consciously moved away from a traditional soprano in the role. I doubt that was it.

As long as we're tossing out every ridiculous possibility imaginable, maybe it was Eurydice (or Persephone) in HADESTOWN??

Or maybe "traditional" nontraditional casting as Michael in TOOTSIE?

Or Calpurnia in MOCKINGBIRD??

With all due respect, you’re coming off as entitled to certain info. If she wanted to brush on the subject in a respectful way, that’s her right. Now that is something that should be respected. There’s a difference between gossip/chatting speculation and feeling entitled to know that which you really don’t need to.

If people were hounding HER for info, it would be out of line. Discussing the possibility is not. Esp since we will likely never know.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I've been a Kelliphile since I first saw her in South Pacific. I've seen her at the Staller Center in Suffolk County, the Sheen center downtown. Carnegie Hall several times, the most memorable being her solo concert. As she enters her prime years she has developed into a leader. At the first rehearsal of The King and I in London, with everyone just milling around the room, including the director, it is Kellie they approach to be told where to go and what to do first.

Now that she has attained such a position of respect, she must be careful of accusations of character defamation. She mentioned no producers by name, but by attaching the charge to the producer of the one other show in which she had been interested this year, several hundred people knew immediately to whom she was referring, and several thousand more as the word spread from them.

That said, she didn't go far enough in blemishing the character of the producer by calling him "indecent" or "not a nice person." There must be facts that you state about the person that can be proven. Even if you make a malicious and untrue statement, in must be convincingly shown to a jury that you weren't just joking and you weren't just venturing a baseless opinion.
