I’m sure Laura will post on her Instagram when she’ll be back in MY FAIR LADY. On her last post about a week ago she stated she was going off social media until she was better so she hasn’t been posting anything.

Keeping to her word, Laura is back on social media announcing her matinee today:
curious if she performed last night or for the matinee today?
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
So is it up in the air whether shell be in now? I have tickets for tomorrow night and I specifically bought them to see her. I already saw the show with Ambrose so Im not particularly interested in seeing it without Benanti
I plan on seeing this again in February. I wanted to wait until Christian Dante White started as Freddy. As much as I'd like to see Laura, I wouldn't mind seeing Kerstin as Eliza.

I saw Ambrose and I am almost inclined to say I preferred Kerstins performance over Ambrose."
We also bought tickets to see her and paid full price. We had seen Ambrose last summer. This is strike three for us trying to see her. She was out when we saw Gypsy and out when we saw She Loves Me and now out when we saw My Fair Lady. We did get to see her in Meteor Shower and I actually performed with her when she sang with the Boston Gay Men's Chorus. One day we will get to see her in a Broadway musical :)
The understudy is excellent and we had seen the Higgins understudy during our first visit to My Fair Lady.

I brought this up when people were gleefully giving Ambrose a lot of crap for missing like a weekend and then going down to 7 performances a week and gloating about how she didn't have the stamina to be a Broadway performer. During the height of the anti-Ambrose fervor people, some didn't believe me or dismissed my comments about Benanti's former reputation of missing a lot of shows from Into the Woods on. I wasn't picking on Benanti, but just using her as an example of a seasoned, and brilliant, Broadway veteran to show even the best can miss a lot of shows. People used to give her crap too until she revealed her various health issues and people finally understood that even Broadway performers are human.
I believe the Anna standby in Frozen is going on quite regularly. Aisha Jackson is getting just as much stage time as Kersten Anderson, but I haven't seen that talked about at all on here. Why are some performers picked on and not others? They're all just human.

You must’ve not been reading the boards a few weeks ago. Things escalated very quickly...

I actually feel like its the other way round, and Laura Benanti gets a pretty much free pass for absences because she's a Broadway 'darling'. I'm not in any way suggesting she should be given grief for it because if you're sick you're sick, but there seems to be a lot of double standards by some people on these boards considering the crap that Lauren Ambrose or Patti Murin were getting respectively for either not doing 8 shows a week or for missing shows due to illness.

Benanti is living with a comprised immune system. She gets sicker than the average person hence why she does not stage door: to keep herself as healthy as possible. She has a toddler so she’s already being exposed to quite a bit already. Sadly, when she does get sick, it hits her hard whereas others might still be able to perform.
This information was never revealed years ago so her shoddy performance history in past Broadway shows was attacked as irresponsible and unacceptable for a Broadway performer.
If you talk about the person Aisha Jackson is going on for in FROZEN your post will be deleted, which could be why you haven't heard as much.

Wasn’t the reason why she missed so much of Into The Woods was because she had a severe back injury? I’m also pretty sure it took her years to fully recover thus the reason why she missed performances of any show afterwards.

"
But this was my point though. LB has an illness which means she’s more susceptible to missing performances than others. My point was about the double standards on these boards, and not an attack on LB for absences. I didn’t see people here likewise defending the person I’m not allowed to name when she also has an illness which also makes her susceptible to missing shows. In fact a lot of comments were people suggesting she shouldn’t have taken the role in the first place, which is just wrong. It’s just frustrating that some broadway stars are held to different standards than other on these boards dependent on who they are.

Yep. She revealed it years after the fact and I think that coupled with her celebrated performance in Gypsy turned the tide in her favor on this board (that and the board's population changing somewhat over the years) when they realized how severe her health issues were. People should have seen that as a lesson in realizing these Broadway performers are human too and unless it's clear there's a bad work ethic or attitude, which I don't know how one would know unless they were working with someone or it's just common knowledge, then if they're missing shows, it's most likely due to something serious. Like later on, we found out Ambrose's father was dying and then did indeed die during her run.
