Laura Benanti to replace Lauren Ambrose in MY FAIR LADY

Worth noting that she’s in the role through February 17 and is performing seven times a weeks, like Ambrose did.

I'm very happy for her. I'm less happy for my wallet since now I have to go back.

This is probably because Ambrose got cast in that Apple series directed by M Shyamalan.

Take my money, Lincoln Center.

I think I just sh*t my pants. I can't believe this is actually happening. TAKE. MY. MONEY.

I think Laura will be great! I'm also thrilled that another "older" actress has been cast in the part! Proving that 39 is the new 19.

And Laura still got her looks from when she was Cinderella in Into the Woods.

I saw both Kerstin and Lauren and I loved them both. I’d just like to make sure I’m definitely dropping $$ on Benanti’s Eliza, though!

Well, I'll be darned! Good for her! I'd like to see that filmed myself. I wonder if there's any actual chance of it, outside our wishful thinking.

But what does Diana Rigg have to say about her 7 show week?

Where are the naysayers who slammed Ambrose for doing 7 shows a week? Do they apply the same standard to Benanti?
I really wish it would be filmed with Ambrose in it. Her nuanced performance is a breath of fresh air that the show desperately needs if it wants to persuade the broader audience that golden age musicals are still worth going back to and digging into. Plus her nuances will translate pretty well on camera. Haven’t seen Benanti’s performance so I couldn’t say much about it, but I hope she’ll get enough time to explore the piece with Sher and the rest of the cast before going on stage.

I'm so happy for Laura! You're right that in the NYT article it stated Kerstin Anderson will be playing Eliza on Tuesdays... but Oct 23rd is a Tuesday.
Right now, however, Kerstin performs as Eliza on Sunday matinees.

Also, Harry Hadden-Paton will be away from Sept 22 to Oct 21 to film the Downton Abbey movie. It'll be interesting to see Laura Benanti and Harry Hadden-Paton on stage on Oct 23 (or 24) given they barely had time to rehearse with each other. I understand they're both professionals though and this happens all the time but still I'm curious!

Up In One said: "Now there’s a reason for that new ending ... so I can buy a seat on that aisle!"
I was thinking the same thing...which aisle is it? Between left center/left side or between center/left center? I can't remember.
