Happy to do it!Lea Michele Has the Last Laugh(The New York Sun). A positive review, but feels kind of smug? There's a weird tone to it, IMO.

Oh no, I get that. And for quite a few of them this is their first ever Broadway show. So all of this attention now must be fun!
Eta- I tried to fix the link, but I can't. Just search the review on the site.
"I didn't pay attention to the news at all," Feldshuh (pronounced Feld-SHOE) told Newsweek. "I stayed in that tunnel. I did not read any stuff about our beloved Lea. I mean, the minute she stepped in the show, the box office shot up a million dollars a week, hello... If life is a meritocracy, here is an artist that deserves her accolades. This is not some person who's just Andy Warhol famous." [..]
"It's a complete team effort led by Lea Michele," says Feldshuh. "She is not only not a diva, she is so polite, so careful, so respectful and loving and not fancy. She doesn't walk the dog, if you know what I mean."
In addition to her co-star's artistry and professionalism, Feldshuh also credits Michele with getting bums in seats. "We have a whole different demographic of audience; we have people who watch Glee and young people who worship Lea," she said. (This writer can attest to that: at a recent performance, there were multiple standing ovations during the show.) [..] And just in case there was any confusion regarding how Feldshuh feels about her scene partner, she ends the interview by saying: "I feel like I'm on the wings of an angel, and her name is Lea Michele. I'm lucky."

Seriously --- what else did you THINK she was going to say?? "Lea is a horrible person and I can't wait to finish my contract in this godawful show"??

What are you being aggressive about? I shared an interview by Tovah in a thread about Lea being in Funny Girl because it's relevant to the topic.

There is 0 reason to respond like that."
I totally believe her. And I understand it has been a very joyous backstage atmosphere lately. Mostly they are all happy to continue being employed. The company is having a Sukkot party on Sunday evening.
Barring an unforeseen absence, Ms.Michele is scheduled to perform seven shows a week now through March 26th, 2023! She will not be performing on Thursday evenings. The marvelous Julie Benko will perform as Fanny on Thursday evenings.
There are a handful of changes to this schedule over the holidays. Ms. Michele will not perform -
Friday 11/25 2pm Matinee (she will perform the 8pm evening performance) Tuesday 12/20 7pm (she will perform that Thursday 12/22 instead) Monday 12/26 2pm Matinee (she will perform the 8pm evening performance) Thursday 12/28 8pm
We can confirm that all of our other principals remain scheduled to perform all eight (8) performances a week barring an unforeseen absence.

That's what I had to do. Just search Lea Michele and it comes up. I thought it was a spot on review and I particularly liked the way she handled the cancelling issue.
According to critics, Lea Michele finally gives theater kids the Funny Girl they deserve With Lea Michele in the lead, critics find something nice to say about Funny Girl
The GMA performance of "Don't Rain On My Parade" is probably the first time we have actually been able to hear Lea Michele sing the final note of the song from this production lol.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Wow her GMA performance is head and shoulders above the mess she performed at the Tonys years ago. She seems a lot more relaxed and in the moment and it’s far more powerful. Good for her.

That Tony Awards performance was 12 years ago, which is a lifetime ago for performers. Since then she’s had years of career and personal ups and downs, she’s now a wife and mother, and almost had her career shutdown. What she’s bringing to FUNNY GIRL today would not have been possible 12-15 years ago. Also, at the Tony Awards she’s was singing as Lea Michele. At this GMA performance she’s in character and protected by the costume, wig, the cast also in costume, etc. Her headspace goes somewhere else when she performs the song in character. At her concerts she performs the song quite differently.
Wow I didn’t realize that performance was so long ago. I honestly couldn’t stand anything Michele did for years but I’m really impressed by what I’ve seen so far from Funny Girl. She’s certainly dropped into something—again, good for her! I genuinely love to see this sort of evolution from people I previously have written off.

You were not there. It’s just allegations from years ago. So I say allow yourself to enjoy. You don’t have to be best friends with her.
I don't know, that performance did not excite me in any way nor make me want to see the show again. It didn't do much for me at all.
