I know Playbill insta commenters seem to generally hate Lea, but it does amuse me that there are lots of misguided “ha, that’s what Lea deserves for her racism” comments on the post about FG closing, as if the reason is because the show is doing badly under Lea, whereas it’s more likely because Lea doesn’t want to continue indefinitely and the show will not survive with another performer as Fanny!

Exactly-they’re trying to link her past behavior to closing when it has literally nothing to do with that.
I've seen those comments as well and find them hilarious.
After the initial first 6 months, Lea kept the show open for a year. I assumed the show would close this spring and that STILL would've been a triumph. But, nope. She's going the extra mile in a role that is not easy by any means. So, I applaud Lea for what will have been a huge accomplishment for a full year. The show was ready to be dead in the water until she came in and saved the day. Anyone who tries to make the closing sound like her fault doesn't live in reality. It's all in the numbers, kids. :)
Last spring, could anyone fathom this production lasting until September 2023? She saved a sinking ship. And committed to a full year. There’s no bad news here.

Just bit the bullet and made my purchase figuring it will become harder to get tickets now that a closing date has been announced. I can’t believe that it has been almost a year since I originally saw this production.
Lea will be out tonight and for both shows tomorrow, resulting in the entire week off, since she already had Thursday-Sunday absences scheduled. Julie will be filling in for all performances.
Edit: sorry see below about lack of sleep - I re-read the message above & the tweet where it clearly says Julie will be on
I have tickets for tomorrow. I didn't pay an arm & a leg and right now I don't know that there is anything else I'd rather see?
Flew in on red eye, got stuck in a seat that didn't recline so didn't get much/any sleep. But amazingly it took me only 95 minutes from the plane touching down at 8am to get through Customs and make into bed at my Midtown hotel for a few hours sleep.
I’m in the same situation. I had an amazing seat I paid $140 for in the front row. Now the same seat for any Lea performance is $445.00 I hope they honor an even exchange. Have you got this far and know if they charging escalated prices for even same seat exchanges?
After mulling it over, I canceled my ticket, changed my schedule around to see Parade tomorrow instead of on the weekend, & got a ticket for Kimberly Akimbo.
I won't be back in NYC before this show closes so I didn't ask about an exchange. But, the operator I got at Seat Geek was very pleasant & helpful and made the ticket cancellation simple.

Anyone who says they knew it would do this well for this long is lying. While I assumed there would be an initial surge of interest when Lea went in, I’m very surprised that the demand has gone on as long as it has.
While I’m no fan of hers I do give her credit for what she has accomplished with this show. I’m very curious to see what she does with this new box office power she has. She’s definitely going to wind up with producers courting her, so it will be interesting to see if she’s able to pick the project that will snag her that Tony she’s been dreaming of for so long.
Great choices! I saw this as a sign to see Hadestown again even though it was sold out on SeatGeek the box office had a few options. Missed Eva and Reeve the last two times I saw Hadestown and I hope they are in tonight. 🤞🏽🙏🏽

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Had my tax appointment in NYC today, and my accountant was talking about her absences. Two of her friends had tickets when Michele called out, weeks apart. Both had paid dearly for house seats. We can all appreciate the challenges of the role, Covid-era health issues, winter's seasonal grip, and myriad other factors. But it's too bad this long run is being (slightly) tainted with this attendance record. I noticed that Instagram deletes the real time notices (thought today's covers three consecutive performances) after the fact; we can't keep a running count.

May I ask why you need a running count? Do you track this yourself? They do it by having a check-in at the theater. Theater fans, show fans-they do not need to keep track unless they do it by themselves. So may I ask-why would you need it??

Good question. My first thought was back to high school when absences are counted against your grades...or HR where absences are counted against your job performance. Not sure about Broadway. I have to admit, I would be (and have been) upset when a performer didn't perform when I spent a lot of time and money to see them. However, ratioing the number of performances she's done against how much time she's been out (unscheduled) isn't all that much or is it? I'm thinking in her 6 months with the show, she's been out a lot less than Beanie, but then I'm not keeping track.
The high school absence parallel doesn't really hold. Many people at this very site inquire daily about "attendance records" for billed stars to gauge the likelihood of an actor showing up on a certain day, particularly the question of matinees*. It's certainly not the show's Instagram account requirement, agreed, but it's odd to surmise that it's an unrealistic question, since it's the sort that's floated here since I joined in 2003. It's already being asked about Groban (out last night) about Great Comet before seats are purchased.
*Just popped up about the chances for Easter Sunday in another thread

There is absolutely no way to know when someone will be out, unless it is explicitly stated at the beginning of the run. Not long after Lea joined the cast-or maybe right after she was announced? they said Julie would be taking over Thursday performances. Performers are human. Things happen. Even if they have a stellar attendance record, things do happen so I wouldn't rely on keeping track yourself. That doesn't tell you when they might next be out.

The way it struck me and why I used the analogy is there seems to be a need to keep track of how many times someone is out as if that has something to do with their performance. And, yes, I've seen that as a matter of interest - most particularly with Beanie. Her being out was a break for Julie, but her performance was the reason she was replaced, not her absences...and now with Josh Groban. Not sure why it's important to anyone, but just because it's not my thing doesn't mean others can't keep track. More like baseball/sports stats than attendance records, I guess.

Some scheduled absences are not announced at the beginning of the run, but are later revealed in advance of when they will actually occur. Vacations and new concert events are just two examples.
someone said Lea is giving a masterclass...no Julie Benko is
Julie is actually playing the character
Lea is playing Lea playing Barbra playing Fanny and her performance is borderline annoying, when she was physically waving on applause during Don't Rain On My Parade at my performance it just was obnoxious
Glad she is keeping people employed but yeesh what an overhyped situation
Also Tovah can not sing this score and her understudy is infinitely better
Honestly, going on a Thursday is the way to go with this one
