Hades could do the reverse too at some point (someone like Norm Lewis?)"
Umm, Hades is literally doing the reverse with this announcement? (Not to say that people of color haven’t already played Hades).

God I hope so. Excited as I am for Betty Who and Phillip Boykin, I cannot sit through Reeve's fried vocal screlting anymore. It was so tired and phoned in when I saw it last year.

She sings main vocals in about 3-4 songs throughout the evening, but I wouldn't say any of it is out of Betty's range. I'm more interested to see what she does acting wise and she's such a departure from previous interpretations.

Lol you are right. I was confusing Philip Boykin with someone else. My bad.
Big talents coming into Hadestown this late in its run, but an odd career move for someone who was poised to be "the next big thing" prior to Almost Famous sputtering out on Broadway. But a paycheck's a paycheck!
This is some truly incredible casting for the second and third replacement round of this show. Now we just need to get Reeve to give up the ghost and pass the torch on to someone… even half watchable. He’s the only thing preventing me from slapping down my card to see the show again.

Well, this is the first replacement for Eurydice."
I’m speaking generally about the cast, not just Solea. I’m aware she’s the first replacement for Eurydice, thanks.

I wonder how long Lillias will stay. Her CBS Sunday Morning interview made it clear she has no plans to retire but she's also spoken before about getting bored easily. Which is why she headed out of Chicago almost as quickly as she joined.

I cannot lie....I spent a good minute thinking "ok. But...Betty....who? Buckley? WTH does 'Betty Who Is Persephone' mean? Come on - quit teasing and give us a last name here!"

It felt tired and phoned in when it was at the National in London 4-5 years ago lol!! I just don't understand the casting decision - the whole show seems to rely on the beauty of his song/voice but I just couldn't hear it and it took me completely out of the show (as much as I respected and enjoyed what I was seeing of course).
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Can Reeve leave so they can have Nicholas Barasch join the Broadway production?

I was there. Malcolm Armwood was on for Hermes, and I thought he was fantastic. Eva was stunning as usual; Flowers was particularly shattering and earned a standing ovation. I could feel everyone near me bracing themselves for the Wait For Me reprise, and of course it was thrilling. Reeve gave a nice speech at the end, and Andre, Amber, and Patrick all came on and said lovely things. Still a beautiful show after the fifth viewing.
