Any thoughts on the likely track list? We've heard 30/90 and Louder Than Words already.
Based on the trailer I see parts of what looks like Green Green Dress, No More, Sunday, Come to Your Senses, Why
I don't see Sugar, but it's a fun number I can't imagine them cutting unless they're also cutting that whole plot flirting with the actress.
Pretty sure they'll cut See Her Smile and Real Life. I could see Therapy going either way, but I do think Lin's fond of it so I'd say there's a decent chance.
What's the number with Johnathan in a tux? New one?

Well, there's a lot more characters in this than on stage, so there's bound to be some dividing-up of numbers. Holding any judgement until we can actually see it!

Oh, most definitely on both counts. But since the song is the big finish (and that still seems to be the case, what with the "Happy Birthday" melody ending), one would think the other two primary characters (even if Karessa seems to have been beefed up a bit) would be on it. We shall see how it plays out.
Not sure if it's official, but we'll find out tomorrow.
If real, "Sugar" and "See Her Smile" seems to be out, and there are a few more Larson archive songs added "Swimming", "Out Of My Dreams", and some original songs by other artists.
This seems to match what Lin-Manuel was saying in some interviews that they will use some Larson archive songs.
"Miranda has said the show is a combination of Larson’s rock monologue, the 2001 Off Broadway revival, and a cinematic exploration of Larson’s thought process. He used the Library of Congress archives to craft the film’s score entirely using Larson’s music, both from “Tick, Tick … Boom!” and the composer’s larger body of work.
“It was like we were putting together an original musical with Jonathan Larson’s songs,” Miranda told Entertainment Weekly, explaining the process as finding the best way to “unlock” the songs and stories."
Nice. I can't wait for the reviews for this one, it certainly looks and sounds good and will hopefully wash the taste of Dear Evan Hansen out of my mouth.
@ScottDMenzel Tick, tick…BOOM! is about a theater lover by a theater lover for a theater lover. A phenomenal film that takes you inside the mind of Jonathan Larson. Andrew Garfield delivers a tour-de-force performance & becomes Jonathan Larson. One of the best films of the year. #TickTickBoom
Doug Jamieson Lin-Manuel Miranda delivers a spectacular directorial debut with TICK, TICK... BOOM! A beautiful tribute to Jonathan Larson and the chaotic creative process behind his work. Andrew Garfield is sensational with a tour-de-force performance worthy of awards noms. #TickTickBoomMovie

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s tick, tick…BOOM! is a stunner and the best musical of the year. Andrew Garfield has never been better, Robin de Jesus is perfect and the film is packed with theatrical legend cameos that will make you scream. #ticktickboom
LOVED @Lin_Manuel 's #TickTickBoom. Never saw Andrew Garfield on screen tonight. Instead I witnessed Jonathan Larson come back to life for 2 hours. I've still not gotten over Jonathan dying so young and with so much left to give. May have shed some tears in the dusty theater.
WOW!! @Lin_Manuel Miranda directed the hell out of #TickTickBOOM & it’s sensational! A powerful, rousing, life-affirming musical that truly honors #JonathanLarson — #AndrewGarfield gives the Oscar-worthy performance of his career & #AlexandraShipp is magnificent! SEE IT ASAP!

and more ... expecting Oscar noms esp for Andrew Garfield.
and some says a lot of theatre actor cameos!!! Exciting
Caught a screening this afternoon and was completely delighted!
I'm gonna try and avoid spoilers but maybe don't read if you want a completely fresh experience.
Sunday had the audience applauding (and me in tears!). Boho Days has always been one of my favorite moments on the recording, so I loved that it was incorporated. I thought Garfield and de Jesus were both beautiful. I was completely underwhelmed by both Hudgens and Shipp. In particular I thought Hudgens was done a disservice by being placed right next to Garfield during Therapy, when he played about 8 layers of emotion and she struggled to generate one.
The theatre cameos are non-stop. Seriously if you did a drinking game you'd pass out and miss the second half of the film.
Whitford's Sondheim is pretty delightful, though i wish he'd nailed the voice more, especially when Sondheim's actual voice is also used in the film.
The show came out when I was finishing high school so I very much consider it the soundtrack to my 20s. I still have a Rent keyring on my keys (purchased in 1997) and I just moved to New York from Australia 3 months ago, so this was a particularly emotional experience for me. Can't wait to hear others' thoughts, and will definitely be watching this many times on Netflix.
I'm so happy to see that the movie has a really good start when it comes to it's reviews, some of which are saying that Maranda has made an impressive debut as a film director. I'm so excited for this to appear on Netflix, it's been one of the upcoming musical films I've been excited to watch alongside West Side Story.
You guys are NOT ready for SUNDAY. The number of gasps and cheers in the cinema was like Avengers Endgame level.
The film brought me to tears many times and also loved how Lin incorporated Rent into this to commence Jonathan Larson's legacy and make the ending more emotional and effective.
I need to see this ASAP! I just texted all my close friends in my city to see who will go with me today and I’ll pay for their ticket because I can’t wait another week. But I’ll go by myself if I can’t get a friend to come!
Also, question for anyone who has an Apple Music subscription: I just finished listening to the Soundtrack (by the way “Why” is breathtakingly beautiful and “Sunday” has never sounded better) but on Apple Music I can’t seem to find the Album as a whole anywhere on the service, but all the songs are on there individually if searched by the song title or under “Artist” of the name of the actors singing the song. Am I just not looking hard enough? Was the album not officially released yet or the songs accidentally released early?

I did have that problem at first. Though what I ended up doing was I looked up Joshua Henry's rendition of 'Green Green Dress', and among the results I got was the full album.
Caught this over the weekend at Alamo Drafthouse in Lower Manhattan. I LOVED it. See it in a theatre full of theatre lovers if you can. If you can't, at least on Netflix you can pause to check the faces of everyone you recognize in every crowd scene!
"This thread reads like a series of White House memos." — Mister Matt
I saw this yesterday. Catch it on a big screen if you got the chance! I am beside myself with that wonderful this movie is. I haven’t felt so emotional about a film in maybe my whole life? Bring your tissues!
We just saw it this past Saturday at Alamo Drafthouse in Los Angeles — a FABULOUS way to see this remarkable film. I can’t remember a movie that is more inside baseball for theater lovers than this film. Easter eggs abound nonstop. I really wasn’t familiar with the Tick Tick score (nor Superbia’s) and to be honest, I feel Larson made a huge jump in song crafting by the time he composed RENT. But it matters not a whit. Miranda has made a thrilling film on the PROCESS of writing, and Andrew Garfield was a brilliant actor to tell the story through. Highest marks to all.
Lin Manuel Miranda has outdone himself. A truly remarkable film. He exceeded my expectations in turning this piece into a viable musical film. He deserves all the accolades coming his way.
Garfield is most definitely getting an Oscar nomination for this.
Just need to add my praises for the film, as well. For me, this was a pretty much perfect adaptation and one of those movies that is sticking with me long after I walked out of theater. A love letter to theatre (and passion for art in general), certainly, but also a universally meaningful and beautiful story.
I was hesitant about Garfield in the role when I first heard about the casting but holy cow was I proved absolutely wrong. He was outstanding (and I hope he gets the nomination/award recognition he deserves)!
Here is a GREAT interview with Lin in the New Yorker. It's a more morbid, somber tone than we're used to hearing from him, which is refreshing. He addresses everything from the ITH colorism controversy to dealing with expectations following giant hits, and how Larson and Sondheim and filmmaker Robert Rodriguez and so many others have inspired his own life.
Add me to the people singing the praises of this movie. It's a triumph.
