Jeremy Jordan is in the show until Sept 17. Any rumblings about who is the next Seymour? I know Corbin Bleu was mentioned at one point, not sure if he is still being buzzed about.

Little Shop's official Instagram account just posted a video with Corbin Bleu and Constance Wu, our newest Seymour and Audrey:
Her relationship with the industry aside, she’s not taking a job from anyone. She was obviously offered the role and as the star of one of the biggest Asian-led films ever made, she’s a big name that will keep that show running and bring in, what I’m guessing, a very big audience. I can’t wait.
I saw this production with its original cast back in 2019, and haven't felt much of a desire to make a return visit for any of the replacements so far. This is pretty tempting though....
Constance’s casting reminded me of this Vulture article from 2016. Where she was asked what dream roles she has and she mentioned Audrey! Such a full circle moment!
Yep. And if click on almost any performance thereafter, you get a pop-up stating that she will not be portraying Audrey at that performance. Buyers beware!
He's a working actor, what's wrong with that? He's got 4 bway credits 2 are original, 2 are replacements. Not so shabby.
I've seen him in all those shows, he's not let me down, and while I like him, I'm far from a raging fan and I'd like to see him in this.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I'm super excited, I think she's great and I think her little kerfuffle was blown so far out of proportion. Can't wait to see her."
Truly. She was bummed that her show got renewed and it would make her unavailable to do other more varied work because of how long network TV has to film. Honestly her reaction was like some of the realest "This is in fact a job and not just play time" that I've seen come out of Halloween. I like it.

Maybe she was bummed about that, too, but also traumatized by the misconduct from a senior producer on that show, as she explained in her book and interviews (Look at the video of her interview with Seth Meyers on her IG).
As a fan of theatre as well as a HUGE fan of Constance...I'm a little disappointed. Not that she's doing the show, I will finally, definitely make a return visit. But...
Now, if it were an Emma Stone situation, Emma was and is a huge star who chose to be a first replacement Sally out of, I'm sure, tons of other offers. Or she just had some downtime between films.
But I have noticed, after being brilliant in Crazy Rich Asians (as a leading actress after her marvelous, hilarious character creation on Fresh Off the Boat) and the J Lo film, her options started to drift. Would she be doing the fourth replacement in an off-Broadway show if this exquisite actress of color was getting the film or status TV shows someone of her talent deserved? Again, I am THRILLED she will be playing Audrey and I hope she too is turning down bigger offers so she can do her dream role somewhere...but I fear that is not the case....so I'm a little depressed at the news...

My gut says that this casting (albeit being a dream role of her's) is more of an indicator of working actors needing to work during the strike. That said, huge win for the production. She's the first replacement in that show that made me want to return. If she does well (and I'm sure she will), I'm sure that we will see her originate more NYC roles in the future.
I doubt this is a situation of Constance Wu 'needing' to work during the strike. I think its more likley that its a dream role, she's got unexpected free time on her hands, and this is an Off Broadway contract that will allow her flexibility should there be a sudden change in the status of the strike.
I would love to see her play the part. And I would bet she can sing it as well as Tammy Blanchard or Maude Apatow.
“I knew who I was this morning, but I've changed a few times since then.”
