Mike Pence's ideas, and the religious institutions his ideas come from, are monstrous and intellectually ridiculous. Anything we can do to help people wake up to the reality/truth of the world and realise the needless negative impact they are causing, the better.
The actual words spoken by the Hamilton cast were very friendly and and welcoming - of course, the media and Trump in particular (along with his supporters) have blown this out of proportion.
We must remove religion from politics. Religion in politics influences social policies the same way that Big Money in politics influences economic policies.

Although in this case, it looks like it penetrated Drumpf's thin skinned little ego instead.

I didn't know that freedom to choose religion includes forcing said religions down people's throats and into people's lives and homes via discriminatory laws which are thinly-veiled as religious freedom bills. OH THE IRONT!

If even one person now refuses to buy the cast album, or the book, or refuses to acquiesce to the hype, or even tunes it out entirely, then it would be all worthwhile.

The cast recording went from number 14 on the iTunes charts to number 7 today. The majority of the tweets that made #BoycottHamilton trend were talking about how ridiculous it is to boycott a sold out show or people asking for Trump supporters tickets.

Sorry, I love Hamilton, but they screwed up on this one. Sometimes you have to just admit when you're wrong. Embarrassing your audience members and guests is never a respectful and dignified way to do anything. Theatre is a wonderful way to stand up for what you believe in through your performance or creation. But we then invite all to come in and see our message via the performance, not through a public shaming of someone who has come to listen to the message. This is an example of becoming the very thing you hate.

Because they wouldn't have gotten the video footage they so desperately wanted to go viral, causing national headlines. The whole point of making the inappropriate and uncalled for speech was to generate a headline. Looks like they succeeded.
Has the cast apologized yet?

Someday we are going to learn our lesson and hopefully it is before the next election. We are going to end up with 8 years of Trump instead of 4 if we keep infuriating middle America. This sort of stuff plays great in our urban echo chamber, but plays really bad outside of NY and Hollywood.

I can't help but think of how uncomfortable the Trump supporters were last night who were at the performance. You can't even deny there had to be a handful.
Seems like both parties succeeded in getting a headline out of this one. But can we move on now?
We are feeding into the thirst for the headline.

It is not the job of People of Color and gay people - who make up a majority of the cast of Hamilton - to calculate political strategy to win over white voters in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin for the next presidential election - assuming we have a free and fair election in four years. They have more urgent concerns, friends, family. Trump ran as a white nationalist, and as his appointments indicate, he will govern as such.
Brandon Victor Dixon's statement was fine. It's striking to me that some people, and not just Trump fans, are more bothered by the cast's statement, which came across more as a desperate plea, than by the racism, misogyny, and homophobia of the Trump campaign itself. Oh, heavens! Someone might feel uncomfortable at the theatre, especially the incoming vice president-elect. The pearl-clutching is really too much.
As for After Eight, it seems your desire for allies in disliking the show has put you in some strange company. Look, if you're worried about the great power of Hamilton, don't fret. Trump and Pence will get their revenge - on blacks, Hispanics, Muslims, women, LGBT people, and anyone who values the American experiment.

The cast asked for the audience to stop the booing, thanked Pence for being there, and wished that the show inspired him to be an inclusive leader. But that is "embarrassing" and "shaming"?
Either you have unbelievably thin skin, or you're intentionally mischaracterizing what happened..

So did the cast come out before the show started and asked the crowd to stop booing? Was the booing during Pence's arrival?
I wish there was a law that prohibited people in office or running for office from using Twitter. It is kind of like leaving notes on the fridge when having problems with a roommate rather than confronting them. They should hold press conferences and voice their opinions and then answer questions from the press.
