I agree that Hunchback should come to Bway. I LOVE the German cast recording!! It's so beautiful! And I am totally up for Hercules, Aladdin and Mulan to come to Bway as well!! And I would love for Susan Egan to play Megara as well....she's sooo nice and talented!

Hercules for sure... with the success of other shows with Black Girl Groups.. The Muses would find a great home on the great white way.
PLUS I've already done sketches of The Muses costumes for a broadway show. ^^

I've also done designs for a Nightmare Before Christmas musical aswell.

Well, I will say it. I have LOVED the disey shows I have seen. Here are my thoughts on the ones I would like to see done.
(In no particular order)
The Little Mermaid: This is a music that would come to life so beautifully with Broadway voices, I want to hear Ariel go to town on "Part of Your World"
Hercules: I would love to see this, but you have to change the fat muse to a gay guy. "Honey, you mean hunk-ules" pricless.
Pocahantas: My top choice just because I have some many ideas of how this could work, plus they would add back in "If I Never Knew You" and that song sung by Broadway voices, I would die.

I think in terms of musical potential (as in: MUSIC that would be most suited to a broadway show), my vote goes to Pocahontas or the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Hunchback is one of my favorite disney movies, and music in the film is very beautiful and quite powerful in some cases (the choral bits of "The Bells of Notre Dame" are just gorgeous). One has to wonder if Disney Theatrical would do it though... as it's also one of the DARKEST disney movies there is (if I didn't know better, and if not for a few things, I'd never guess it was a disney movie at all). I mean, how many small children really understand "Hellfire", and how many parents would really want to explain that one to their kids at intermission? That's not to say that *I* wouldn't love to see it, but Disney tends to like their shows very kid-friendily.
Pocahontas had some of my favorite Disney music EVER. I'm a fan of Hercules too, but I don't know that I could see it translating well to a stage musical.
I'm not counting the Little Mermaid, because that's already been slated for production and workshopped and such (I'm actually quite a fan of some of the new music for that. "If Only" is a beautiful song). Updated On: 4/16/06 at 05:15 PM
i've heard that they're trying to develop hunchback for the stage, having been performed in numerous places in Germany...mandy patinkin has sung the title role
When I was in Berlin a few years ago, there was a huge marquee for a production of "Hunchback" -- HOWEVER, I think that the vast majority of those in Europe are incarnations of "Notre de Paris". Which is not based at all (save for the story) on the Disney film. I could be wrong, but that's my guess.
it had to be the Disney version. If it was Der Glockner Von Notre Dame it had to be it, it last from 1999-2002 i believe. its a great show and i saw the movie when i was like 10. yeah it was dark but even as a kid i loved it and it has been my fave disney movie ever since.

Why are so many people against Disney Theatrical? Honestly. The budgets for these shows are astronomical, so one knows that from a technical standpoint that the show will do well. The shows employ many budding actors, which is good, and many of the musical retooling/orchestrations typically turn out good thanks to amazing composers. Not to mention that many of the Disney cartoon movie musicals are based off historically significant works/events, so, despite the book, there is some tangible content. That's just me.
i agree. not only do they give actors work, but Disney is really the reason why Times Square and Broadway has cleaned up a lot. It used to be really trashy and Gulianni and Michael Eisner wanted to clean it up when the Lion King premiered to make it better for families to come to. I think Disney has helped Broadway a lot. So I'm not complaining, they put on good shows too.

"Hunchback" would be amazing to be on Broadway! I love that movie so much and the messages and themes in the movie are so powerful! Plus hearing someone belting "Out There" or "God Help the Outcasts" would be incredible!
It'll be Little Mermaid likely. Bubt I'd think they(Disney) would close Beauty & the Beast before opening another. That would make 5 Disney shows on Broadway. I'm actually expecting B&TB to close after Mary Poppins opens. Probably Jan or Feb of 2007. I would die of B&TB suprassed A Chorus Line.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

wow im gunna sound like such a LOSER for saying this. but when i was like 10 i was on a disney cruise and they did like a Hercules stage show. and i loved it! the music is incredible. I agree with yall the Muses would totally steal with songs like Zero to Hero and A Star is Born, you cant go wrong
i want you and nothing but you. miles and piles of you...finally ill have something to think of each morning....
This isn't a cartoon, but I would love to see "Bedknobs and Broomsticks." It has catchy music and I would love to see it on stage.
Hercules would be nice, too.

"The Little Mermaid" will definitely be next, it's been workshopping for a while. It could really work, too, but we'll see.
I personally think the Disney properties that would transfer with the most success would be "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (it already did in Germany) and "The Nightmare Before Christmas".
