They have not. I believe they only missed one off-Broadway as well.
That's impressive.

I didn’t think Cole has missed any performances off-Broadway. If Cole did, did anyone see Hannah Solow as Mary?
Ah I got it mixed up- Solow went on for Bianca Leigh at the Lortel.
Any additional extension rumors? Maybe through the end of the year?
As long as it is selling out, it will extend. This show makes me so happy in every way!

Is the Lyceum booked in the Spring?
Any further extensions fall on how long Cole wants to keep doing the show.
I think it's possible for this play to continue with strategic replacement casting.
Does anyone know the weekly nugget? I'm guessing with this extension the play will recoup its investment.
They would be absolutely foolish not to try to recast once Cole decides they need to move on. I imagine they’ll try to stay on through to the Tonys - if they choose the extended engagements route - and then ride the wave of adoration and acclaim that brings to other projects. It’s still early, but I’d peg this for a Best Play/Best Actor win easily.
But Mary, as a role, is RIPE for incredible performers to come take it on. And Cole themself has said they’d love to see other people tackle it.
Escola has said they would love for Tituss Burgess to take over. And I’m sure Jinx Monsoon has to be a leading choice.

Yes, he's brilliant. The closest thing to a "straight man" in this show.
I think Jinkx is a brilliant choice for a replacement.

Would love to see so many people in this show: Jinkx as many have mentioned, John Early, but my ultimate dream is Julia Louis Dreyfus
When a performance is as massively lauded as this, it is VERY TOUGH to get a legitimate star to replace them. Most shows with stars try; very few extend with a new cast, and even fewer have similar or increased sales. Their agents do not want them to be compared. And the fact that Cole wrote the play adds another level of challenge.
Katie Finneran or Julie White or Noah Galvin or Michael Urie seem like an appropriate level who would say yes to replacing in this (and could be brilliant but there would probably be a drop in box office). Or a Kate Flannery/Rachel Dratch level TV person. Maybe a Brit...Catherine Tate?
IF (big if) sales remain amazing and Cole needs a break, it could be a great thing for them to leave in January, then return from April to July.
Crazy things happen sometimes but I think we need to manage expectations about celeb replacements.

Oh I don't think any of this will happen. Just dreaming.

Oh my god JLD would be unbelievable in this!
I would imagine that if there would be a replacement, it would be somebody who is either queer or somebody with a queer sensibility and following (ie, Amy Sedaris). Other considerations like race, gender, or age really don't matter, but the production has made a very conscious choice to maintain its queerness.
People like Sedaris or Jinkx have very similar sensibilities and careers to Escola, so I would imagine somebody in that sort of vein would be most likely- and they're famous but they're not hugely so.
I saw this a couple of weeks ago and LOVED it. Pure hilarity. So glad I was able to go and it joins my short list of recommended shows when people inevitably ask me for suggestions.
At a glance, I noticed Marcia Gay Harden, Nick Kroll, and Frank DiLella in attendance that night.
According to people on Reddit, the in-person rush is getting out of hand. One person being a placeholder for four people that don't show up until 10am. People leaving the line and then returning near 10am. If this keeps up, they'll discontinue the in-person rush.
Kad, the person I’ve been saying i want to see replace Cole (if it happens) is Amy Sedaris. The two are friends so, maaaaybe…..?

I used to rush a lot before pandemic and always felt the line polices itself.
I'm grateful they have an in-person rush since you're at least given a last minute option for an affordable ticket if you're willing to wait 3-4 hours for it.
I'm guessing there may be more people rushing this coming week as college folks return to the dorms this weekend.
