I'd have to say either Cabaret or a good production of Nine. IMO, Nine is freakin genius.

Umm, I'm gonna jump on the West Side/Fiddler bandwagon or Ragtime but that's just cuz it's my fave.

Les Miserables and/or the Phantom of the Opera.
Two shows which every single person need see at least once. They two of the finest musicals (operetta's written).
However, for more "American" musicals, per se, I vote "Sound of Music".

Nah. I say Tanz der Vampire. I play the complete album EVERY DAY and there is not one day I can go without it. It's probably the most awesome-sounding musical I've ever heard. Jim Steinman is a genius, and Steve Margoshes is the greatest since Baroque! If they could open it on Broadway and West End, in its proper manifestation, I'd personally pay to see it every night until I'm 95 - (if I live that long, of course). Oh well.... one can dream

I'd have to say "Hairspray," the most fun you can have sitting down, as they put it so very well. It also has the good message of tolerance that should stick around.

i would have to say sweeney, cause its the best not-funny-at-all musical
humor does not last. It gets old faster than drama.

I'm glad that Sumofallthings has such amazing taste, that he can forsee the brilliance of this musical before it is written. Don't worry, Sum, I'll be getting it published any day now...
I starred in a short film called Magnetic Personality. Check it out!

GYPSY-not the recent production, but a good one. I think it's one of the most perfect musicals ever written structurally speaking, and the score is one of the most timeless we have.

oh that's a hard one.
i'm gonna have to go with ragtime. i'd say bare, but i have yet to see what they've done to the show pre-Dodger Stages opening.
