Agreed. I left "TPTGW" at intermission. Hated it. You have to suspend believe and convince yourself that every actor in the play is a complete moron.

Physical comedy is a very underrated talent and these folks are fabulous at it. The Play That Goes Wrong was a masterclass. When I saw it, the British cast had just left the show and been replaced by a largely American cast who were fabulous, but can't wait to see the British cast in this.
Wasn't expecting the announcement but it's now a must see on my April trip. Can't wait.
Edit: Just noticed that after opening, they are skipping Wednesday matinees in favor of a Sunday evening performance which creates an extra slot for me to see a show since everything else I am thinking about seeing is playing the traditional weekly schedule. Excellent!

Maybe it’s just not funny.
And I’m not sure being aged 32 puts me in the “Old Farts” category , but sure, go off.

Pretty sure they wouldn't be doing as well as they have with runs both here and in the U.K as long as they have if it wasn't funny. So pretty sure that can't be it. Must be something else. But then you seem completely "baffled" by the concept that humor is subjective and that something can be funny to some people and not to others. Interesting world view.
I've seen TPTGW three times and laughed like an idiot each time -- and I'm not normally one for comedies! PETER PAN... is definitely on my list!

Oh I know LOTS of "old farts" in their 20's and 30's!

Its interesting that we talk about so many great shows that were supposed to come in, or lost funding, or never made it to Broadway yet this show just waltzes in randomly

Yes, it's amazing what can happen when there's a competent producer attached!

So you're saying given all the great shows that never made it to Broadway, for once it's nice that a great show did make it? Agree completely!

What IS interesting is this competent producer (Kevin McCollum) is also behind THE NOTEBOOK, which had a warm response in Chicago but still hasn't announced a Broadway run, in a year when the Best Musical race is wide open. But that announcement could still be forthcoming in one of the several vacant playhouses.

Hi, does anyone know if rows A- AA will eventually go on sale for Peter Pan? Or if row B will be the front row for this production? They are currently greyed out, not sure if it's because all three rows are all sold out for the performances, or if they're just not on sale yet. Thank you!!

The Notebook didn't make an announcement because its coming in next season. Also, this year's best musical race is not at all wide open...Kimberly should easily take it. One could argue that Some Like it Hot will give it competition from folks who want a "bigger" show, but its not like there are no frontrunners for the Tony.
As for the first few rows being unavailable, they may be waiting until they are rehearsing inside the theater to see what the sightlines are from those locations. If major sight gags are obstructed from the first row or two, those might be at a different price point or used for rush/lottery seats.

That makes sense! Thank you!!
Wow some of y’all seem miserable.
If you didn’t enjoy the original do us all a big favor. Stay home. We don’t need that energy in the theater when we are enjoying ourselves.

Just to let everyone else know who may be interested. This is from their Instagram
"Hi there! Those tickets will be reserved for our lottery & rush, which we will be announcing info on very soon."

Saw the Notebook and enjoyed it but it could use some work. No songs were memorable or interesting and the staging was very "eh." Maybe they'll work on it.
Excited to hear about Peter Pan. Loved their other show.
Full cast.
Now the second upcoming show where someone will start previews in a role, but a different performer will take over prior to Opening Night. (The other being Here Lies/Salonga.) One more and it's a trend!
Jacob, will you change the title of this thread so the letters aren't backwards so we can actually search for the thread title instead of this infuriating bit?
The boy who won’t grow up arrives in New York with a crash landing.
From the creators of The Play That Goes Wrong comes the new slapstick comedy Peter Pan Goes Wrong, which begins Broadway previews tomorrow night (March 17) at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre before an April 19 opening. The J.M. Barrie spoof is written by and stars Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, and directed by Adam Meggido. The rest of the onstage cast consists of Bartley Booz, Matthew Cavendish, Bianca Horn, Harry Kershaw, Chris Leask, Ellie Morris, Charlie Russell, Greg Tannahill, and Nancy Zamit. Peter Pan Goes Wrong plays a strictly limited run through July 9.
“The much-loved members of The Cornley Drama Society once again battle against technical hitches, flying mishaps, and cast disputes on their way to Neverland with hilarious and disastrous results.”
Who’s going?
Matthew Cavendish, Bianca Horn(tour), Harry Lewis, Charlie Russell, Sayer, Shields, Tannahill, Nancy Zamit, and Ryan Vincent Anderson(tour) all did THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG.
Did anyone go tonight?
The running time is 2 hours 5 minutes, including intermission, according to the show's website.

Bartley Booz, who is playing Dennis until Jonathan Sayer joins the company in a few weeks, also did The Play That Goes Wrong at New World Stages.
I heard from people at first preview that something actually went wrong and stopped the show ....
Has anyone seen this yet? I love TPTGW, so looking forward to hearing reports about this one!
