Yes. Sutton is directing THE DROWSY CHAPERONE at Ball State U in January (apparently it's a three-week commitment) and she is filming a pilot. These commitments were made before the extensions were planned. Her leaving seems very feasible.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
She was announced as staying with the show through the extension, so I can't imagine she'd leave permanently. I'm sure there will be a bunch of asterisks listed next to her name soon on Telecharge soon.

If Sutton Foster is only leaving temporarily why don't they just let Tari Kelly cover for her for those weeks? Stephanie J Block is not a big name. I guess I could see if they wanted a big name to fill in for Sutton, but if they are looking at someone like Block, why not just give Tari Kelly the role while Foster is out?
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
I feel bad for her. I was going to make a specific trip to see Anything Goes if Tari was going on. I've heard many wonderful things about her performance. Could be that she has made herself too valuable in the understudy capacity, so the powers that be might have preferred having her on reserve as opposed to going on in the interim.

This is ridiculous. I think the only positive effect SJB can have business wise is that she will bring along her Wicked fans and the diehards. She can certainly sing the role but I just don't see her fitting into the production as it's built so much around Sutton's abilities. Also, Sutton shouldn't be gone longer than 4 weeks. I just find it all quite odd.
As much as I would love to see Tari do it (I have not seen her but I have heard great things about her) I am not gonna push SJB off the boat just yet. Again, I think she is a fantastic vocalist and will beat the crap out of this score (something I think most will agree with) but also do really well in terms of acting (...some wont agree with this.) She can overact (9 to 5 showed this)but Vera Stark proved she can be subtle and fabulous. so again...I wouldn't judge her quite yet. I am more worried about the dancing. She can dance...but tap? And Reno kinda needs to be bigger then life. She is a brassy, sassy diva in some regards. Sutton does this very well and I think SJB will to.
"Life in theater is give and take...but you need to be ready to give more then you take..."
Sutton was back last night. Someone who was there tonight said that one of the inserts said "The part of Moonface is now being played by Robert Creighton. Does that mean that Joel Grey is not returning to the cast?
Stephanie J. Block isn't really a dancer, is she? I don't doubt that she can sing/act the part, but she seems like an odd choice since this production relies so much on Sutton's dancing ability.
