Back to Sunset - any further traction on the rumor of the production going to LA after July?"
Last I heard from someone who seems to be in the know is that LA doesn't seem to be happening in July and that they're hoping to extend past July 6 in NY/ approaching some actresses about taking over.
I think if it does go to LA for a limited engagement it would be the original cast or at least original leads - perhaps launching a tour or a pro-shot release

No offense to him, but Thaxton was one of my favorite things about it and I'd love to see him again. Will be waiting, I guess."
Just FYI, I went with a party of seven, and all of us thought Pierre Marais was superb as Max.

FWIW, I have seen both Shavey Brown and David Thaxton. David is incomparable (I hope he's remembered at Tony time), but Shavey was really strong as well. I was very pleasantly surprised by his performance.
I've also seen Sydney Jones as Betty (wonderful) and Jimin Moon as Joe (...less so).

Yes, I've also seen David Thaxton twice.

For those who love ''Sunset Blvd'' and can't get enough musical-theater history, I heartily recommend ''Boulevard! A Hollywood Story,'' Jeffrey Schwarz's delightful 2021 documentary about Gloria Swanson's efforts to turn ''Sunset Blvd'' into a musical many decades ago. And life even imitated art a little: Swanson had a crush on one of her writers (but he happened to be gay). You can rent it for a few bucks on YouTube, and it's worth it. Here's the trailer.

Did anyone see the recent tik tok of Nicole coming out the stage door? She looks exhausted and about the fall over. Hope she’s ok

I saw the show on Saturday night and she was better than ever so I think she's more than ok! Every note was sublime, and her performance was somehow even more grounded.

Legitimately laughed out loud at that!
Seriously. The trying to talk down Nicole and this production is comical

Is this not selling well? A lot of yet unsold seats for the next few weeks. Or do they really fill up last minute these days?

It's dead of winter in NYC and the show has been running for a few months now - I'm not surprised to see a lull in sales. I anticipate a bump in sales in the spring - and I'm sure the Tony nominations will help.

I think this is the way most of the run has been. Lots of seats available up until a couple days before the performance. But it's been consistently above 90% capacity so the performances are still close to sold out (at least the Nicole performances).

Its been a bit of a hobby (obsession?) for me to check the seating charts pretty regularly. It's crazy for those of us a bit older to think back to the days when shows would be sold out for months in advance and you would go to a cancellation line the day of hoping for something (or paying a scalper on the street outrageous prices) But most shows have a lot of availability up till the day or two before the performance. Sunset like others have said has definitely seen its grosses drop with the mid winter blues. But if you click shows by attendance it's still in the top 5 or 10 consistently. Hopefully with Spring around the corner and award season things will pick up again.

Yes.
The rumor now is that THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES will be the next tenant at the St. James.

Was this announced somewhere or are you getting that from the tickets on sale? I knew Nicole was only scheduled till July and Seth Meyers when he interviewed Nicole a few weeks ago said "Now through July" but I wasn't sure if they were going to try to find a replacement cast or what.

There is absolutely no world in which they would have sought a replacement for Nicole after July. This production is tailored to her and will rightfully close up shop when her contract ends. Not everything needs to be an open run.

Is Nicole pretty firm on the July closing or is there a possibility they might extend assuming she wins the Tony or something?

As with all of these headlined productions, it’s safe to assume it’ll be extended and maybe a few times until it’s actual final performance.

They were selling tickets through July 6, but extended to July 13. The show is closing.
