What does her apology and tickets for this show have in common?
I’m just not buying it.

Things that didn't happen...
I've done the maths and looked at seating charts - the sales have eroded too much now for it to all be Mandy's performance. The demand is certainly lower - a closing makes sense because it definitely wouldn't survive without someone who is a much bigger star than Nicole and I think they are trying to boost demand right now when they need it in the cold slow winter (whereas when tourists return and when capacity is lower closer to the end of the run I anticipate sales will pick up again).
This is not unique to Sunset though - Gypsy demand is also appearing to slow down a little too.
I didn't care for this show, but if you can see it in NY that would be better than seeing it at the Pantages. Sitting rear orchestra there feels like you're watching the stage at the St James from across the street in the Majestic. It's the problem with seeing most Broadway shows on tour in any of the large theatres outside NY.

Good thing touring productions offer more seating options than just rear orchestra! Have been attending performances there for over a decade without issue.

Audra is that you AGAIN?

I would recommend central front mezzanine for your first time seeing the show. I saw there a few times, and it's the best view to take in the overall show IMO. However, I did sit front row once, and it was SO cool to see Nicole's expressions THAT close.

Funny. Every time I see it, the entire theatre is like a big gay bar.

Seriously. The line to the mens room at intermission is NYC's hottest gay club.

Same. Maybe I'm just a bad gay? :) The story broke while I was actually in the theatre seeing the show.

I cancelled a trip to see the show the weekend after the election because of this situation. Admittedly I had already purchased the ticket, so it wouldn't affect grosses, but I always assume I'm not special and that lots of other gays must have made a similar decision not to see the show.

I really wish you'd cut it out with the constant lectures and victim-blaming regarding Trumpism. You've made the exact same point literally dozens (hundreds?) of times, and it's time to move on to something else.

To each their own. I'm sorry you missed a singular production of this show.
I went with a gaggle of gays a few weeks later who either had no clue it had happened or did not care and enjoyed the hell out of it.
And I’d wish people would move on from this topic re: trying to cancel Nicole but that isn’t happening is it? This is a discussion forum and there are multiple view points. I am responding to the active discussion at hand not imposing my ideas unsolicited. I can move on when others move on
Snagged cheaper tix for the final matinee on July 13th. Can't wait to be in that room for the final time.

Just for the record, I never canceled Scherzinger or advocated that anyone else do so. I made a choice not to attend based on what I was comfortable with at that very particular moment in time. I might even make a different choice before July. The intent of my earlier comment was just to refute a comment that suggested that no one had made any choices based on what came out a few months ago.
[I edited this post to delete a few sentences that I thought were getting off-track, and in so doing removed the context for FolliesCabaret's post below. I apologize for that.]

Stop expecting a person who has displayed blatant sexism, racism, antisemitism, and overall trolling of everyone on this website for not voting for his hero (they can't even VOTE here remember) to not be annoying, drill their point over a hundred times over, and to be a decent human being.
They do not have the capacity. Disengage.
Sutton Ross, that post is so slanderous annd untrue. I’ve only ever made one claim here - which is that I think American progressive culture/leadership is starting to be problematic and warning that Trump might win because of it. And then he did. I’m sorry that you hear any criticism as someone who therefore must think Trump is a ‘hero’. This is genuinely your ideology talking, please. And what I have been pleading - as your post right now has just illustrated - is that you must be more reasonable, you must be less ideological and more centrist. If you don’t, you’re going to be pushing the whole movement we are trying to achieve backwards and do the very opposite you’re trying to fight for. It doesn’t work. Look at what you have done to Trans rights now. Please don’t die on a hill - it’s not worth it. You need people to help you to stop hurting yourself and ourselves now. Be reasonable.

She also embraced and adored Tom Francis' performance, except he wasn't on that night. Bless her. But the thing she definitely gets right is that people should keep politics and performances separated and get over themselves.

This is absolutely not true. Tom performed in both shows on 12/11. Bless you.

I sincerely doubt she is a Trump supporter, I think she is just random and liked a post. If one comment on Instagram cost her the Tony, that would be the definition of absurd.

Binau is right that the fever of canceling people for their beliefs we dont like is breaking, thankfully. Others are right that Nicole has never come out and supported Trump.
But the point stands: she clearly likes/affiliates with RFK Jr, Russell Brand, types. Truly the worst people, because Trump is a sick narcissist but that crew are eagerly peddling the worst kinds of misinformation. Nicole could have easily disassociated herself from these people and has chosen not to.
Does this mean the entire production of Sunset should implode or does this deny her incredible vocal talent? Of course not. Does it tell me all I need to know about who she is as a person? I'm afraid it does--clueless at best, indifferent perhaps, if we're being charitable.
And given whats going on in Washington, that we are literally teetering on the brink here, yeah, lets call her out for it whenever we can.

Seriously, Audra? It is 100% true that Tom DID perform at the performance attended by LuPone. I was there, and he was wonderful.
