I'm looking foreward to Sebastain. He's one of my favorite male theatre actors. Sources are saying that he will not copy Will Ferell's portrayal. He will bring his own take to the role, which is good.
Amy Spanger has been involved in the development of the show for years, so her casting is no surprise.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...
"Every day has the potential to be the greatest day of your life." - Lin-Manuel Miranda
"And when Idina Menzel is singing, I'm always slightly worried that her teeth are going to jump out of her mouth and chase me." - Schmerg_the_Impaler
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel
Will Spanger show up? When has she ever had attendance problems apart from Rock of Ages where she had real vocal distress?
She was out of THE WEDDING SINGER a lot. That said, this is only a two-month run. I'd highly doubt that she's going to miss too many (if any) performances.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
I'm really excited about this. I absolutely love Sebastian and think he'll do a great job. The performance at Broadway on Broadway yesterday was really cute and I think this could actually end up being very good.
I guess we can say that they weren't looking for carbon copies of the movie, but I mean, really? This is all wrong. ELF was funny because Ferrell was so awkwardly tall and large and goofy looking, not an ex Jersey Boy.
Amy missed just a few performances of The Wedding Singer. The one that missed a lot was Laura Benanti. Glad to have Amy back on Broadway!
"People have their opinions and that doesn't mean that their opinions are wrong or right. I just take it with a grain of salt because opinions are like as*holes, everyone has one".
-Felicia Finley-
I'm really suprised about how many people are excited about this. Whenever I think about it, all I hear is a cash register.
(It could be truly wonderful, and I'm not wishing it ill, but its just not sitting right with me.)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
And their poster design is TACKY. Here's hoping the show is better, but I have a feeling it is going to be SO by the books and the set will be nondescript and boring, and the tunes forgettable.
