Thanks for clarifying, I hadn't even considered any show would want to open before the 14th.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I did. Why wouldn't they want to be the only Broadway show in town open for a week? That just sounds like a great idea but I am surprised they are coming back to early. Wonderful.
So maybe Hadestown and Book of Mormon reopen before September 14?
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I wholeheartedly agree"
Just announced: Returning October 13."
Oh boy... I love the show, but I don't see it lasting past New Year's 2022. I hope I'm wrong, though.

I really hope Mare will continue with this. While I truly loved the show, she was exceptional and deserves the chance to be seen by as many people as possible.
So essentially we're just waiting on Book of Mormon, West Side Story, Too Kill a Mockingbird, American Buffalo & The Lehman Trilogy.

As of today, Mockingbird has literally ONE date available for purchase on 1/21/22 and nothing else with no information posted. They are most likely working on it.
I just want to say how insane it is that in a worldwide pandemic that shut broadway down for A YEAR AND A HALF, we only lost, what, 4 shows, not counting the handful that were already set to close?

Hangmen, ...Virginia Woolf?, Mean Girls, Frozen -sounds right to me. The Inheritance and Beetlejuice were set to close anyway, pandemic or not.
And yes, it is insane that B'way is coming back (or at least attempting to come back) with this many shows. I thought there would be many more casualties, so I am pleasantly surprised.

Agreed. Even a month ago I was thinking, "realistically it'll be Wicked, Hamilton, The Lion King, Aladdin, Chicago, and Phantom." Mainly because they're such well-oiled machines and have built in audiences. I thought maybe if anything else would come back other than those, maybe Hadestown and Six. But, wow! So many shows returning that I wasn't sure would. Happy to see it.

Every time there was an announcement extending the length of the shutdown, I remember coming onto this board and watching numerous posters predict an imminent tidal wave of closing notices. It's pretty wild that, of the 24 open-ended shows that were in performances on March 11, 2020, it looks like only two of them won't be returning. Just goes to show how difficult it was for any of us to predict what would be waiting on the other side of this pandemic.
Of course, this being BroadwayWorld, we already have people talking about how Broadway will never be able to sustain this level of reopening activity, and there's a bloodbath coming in January 2022. You'd think we'd all be able to just appreciate how many shows are taking their chances on a return, putting people back to work after 18 months of hardship and welcoming back audiences after a scary and difficult year, but, alas. I guess I should know better.

Ignore the naysayers and go to as many shows as you can. That's my plan.
